Looks like Pitster Pro has received their XTR200's

Sorry for the late reply, long day . The rim and tire sizes are as follows (oh, and the tires are Kingstone (?) not Bridgestone... Lol, I just saw the stone part the other night and assumed Bridgestone.

Front:
Rim- 17X2.50
Tire- 110/70/17

Rear:
Rim- 17X3.00
Tire- 130/70/17

I'm not really sure how that all translates into standard tire sizes but the rear tire looks to be about another third wider than the front. The tires look very good on the bike and it handles like a sportbike (albeit with only 15 hp!) with the street tires on

The Kingstone tires are ok in the dry, but are absolutely TERRIBLE in the wet. Just be warned...

I rode home from work in the rain last night and had several close calls where I would give it some gas and the back end would just spin. Not fun when you are trying to turn left before getting smacked by oncoming traffic.

if a 200cc breaks the rear tire loose you are not talking much grip there at all! Down to Zamboni levels! 8O

As I recall they were very good in the dry though. I never rode my XF in the rain as I recall.

That's what I'm going for, but I blew it. I thought we have a 17" front rim, but it's a 19". Oh well, we'll figure something out.

I hate to say it because your son is probably wanting the supermoto look as well, but with street tires it will handle like a supermoto even though the tire sizes are regular dual sport sizes

Sort of, but not exactly. The smaller front wheel lowers the front end a bit and the change in angle reduces the mechanical trail making the steering more sharp, or twitchy, or responsive. Basically takes less steering effort to initiate a turn. I don't know if you would notice too much of a difference, and you could raise the fork tubes in the triple clamp to achieve a similar effect.

A good friend at work has a KLR650 that came with knobbies. He has never had it off road, so he put street tires on it and it doesn't look bad at all, and handles much better.

I turned my first (of like 4 :roll: ) KLR's into a light tourer.

I changed the knobbies to Metzler Marathons, installed a tall Rifle windscreen and Givi lockable removable hard luggage. I geared it up with a one tooth larger countershaft sprocket.

It was an excellent handling light touring motorcycle.

It's on the 'I wish I didn't sell that one' list.

I've got some nice USD forks that I'm planning on installing on the 250 KLR, but I'm not yet sure how that'll work out. Gotta take fork length and fork stops into account. If that's a no go, we might just lace a smaller rim on the front hub.
