Possible Zongshen CDI options ?
Seems my CDI is going out. Suggestions on where to get? Other than Zongshen America or Tabao? Not so sure bout that Tabao website. And I was just looking for other options. What TW200 CDI works? Anyone every try a "performance" CDI, did it work?

Talked to Zongshen $48.95 for one CDI plus shipping. Up a bit from the $25.00 they were. 8O

Somebody tried a Yamaha CDI unit in his Zong. If I remember correctly, he said the Yamaha, CDI unit worked, but he had to rewire his bike to make the kill switch work. You can search this forum and find the thread.
I am sorry to hear the Zongshen CDI units have increased in price so much; however, they are still less than half the price of a Yamaha CDI unit. I might be wrong, but I can't remember anyone experimenting with a "performance" CDI unit in his Zong. Spud

Mine was just replaced ~100mi ago but if it ever dies again this is what I'm going to try. The first one I googled (the zongs are ac, rite?) even said it used a variable resistor to change the timing curve! That would be awesome since there is presently no way that I've found to change (advance) the stock timing a little. |

If you're bored, you could perform a great service to Zong owners by contributing to the following thread, Obso! http://chinariders.net/modules.php?n...wtopic&t=11397 Although it is not adjustable, the Lifan CDI unit for the 150cc engines is inexpensive, and readily available from a wide variety of vendors. I'm sure Zong owners would be grateful if you could figure out how to make the Lifan CDI unit work for our Zongs! Spud

Difference is pin 6, 7
Upper pin 7 : Working = grounded / Not connected = Off lower pin 6: DC 8-12v that are regulated pin 7 : NIL - (WYSIWYG ) Input chinese http://www.nciku.com/ Just think each character as a different picture |

I was told CDI for Yamaha TW200 is appx $300.00 from Yamaha shop. So I figured $60 shipped from Zongshen is still a good deal.

http://www.cyclepartswarehouse.com/f...009&fveh=28571 Also, if you install a TW200 CDI unit, the Zongshen engine will not shut off unless you modify the Zongshen wiring. If you wish to learn more, you might enjoy reading the following thread. http://chinariders.net/modules.php?n...wtopic&t=13099 Spud
