With mine being a hondoid is there a certain model number of a Honda bike I can look up parts for? My first order I want the sprockets. Also should I do the 520 chain upgrade or just stick with the same chain size and just swap sprockets? Sorry this is my first bike!

I found that sprockets for a 1980 honda xl185 would fit. I would just stick to the 428 chain and sprockets and buy a good quality chain. Recommend a 17t front and a 44-46t rear sprocket for street use and light offroad. That should get you into the 60 plus mph range.

I agree. Stick with the size 428 drive chain; it's plenty strong enough for these engines. The size 428 chain is lighter, less expensive, and has lower resistance than the much larger, size 520 drive chain. A size 520 drive chain will only sap power from your small engine. :(

I agree with kato, but keep in mind, with the front sprocket, they sometimes require some alteration to the engine cover. 1 bigger in the front, such as 15 (I am assuming it is a 14 because most came with that) combined with a mid-40's rear (44 is good) should allow you to install w/o modification.

A mid-2000's 200cc Chinabike I used to own only required a rear sprocket change to allow me comfortable cruising speed.

You know, I just went to my storage room, and lo and behold?! There is a 16 tooth front sprocket sealed in its bag! I had ordered it at a separate time from when I ordered the rear, and never got around to installing it (the rear by itself made a big difference).

Dennis Kirk still carries them, for only $4.95 (w/o shipping); I would have sent mine to you, but I don't know how to ship like big companies do for cheap so it might have cost as much. Let us know how the install goes! If anyone needs a 16t front sprocket and knows how to ship cheap....

Id recommend anyone who needs sprockets to check out bike bandit. They are clearing them out for the xl185 and for the two I ordered with shipping came to only $22!

That is a bargain. A good chain won't be quite so cheap.

LOL! I ordered a 17 for the front and a 45 for the rear. Figured id give that a try but may scale back the front if that takes away too much low end. I'm very interested in seeing how this will affect the bike. I start vacation next Monday so I'm going to finish off my plastics and do all the stuff then.

It's a real shame were all so spread out it'd be pretty cool to get a whole pack of these on a ride!

I'm getting super pumped. I ordered the 30mm mikuni carb, the electronic flasher to fix the annoying turn signal issue, the sprockets. Now I gotta save up my beer money to get the fmf exhaust and ill be a happy man. Its all estimated to arrive Monday which is the first day of my vacation! I have my bike all tore down atm going to pull the engine tonight and get the frame powder coated this Friday. All the plastics are hanging over my entire garage painted and curing for next week. Can't wait!
