You got a great deal, Dibe! That bike is very clean. I like the headlight and plastic on the Roketa DB-05 motorcycles. You got a pushrod engine.

Thanks Spud.

I was able to find the adjustment for the throttle and the spec for the chain.

I adjusted the valves this morning. There wasn't any clearance on them before I got there!

I hope to get it out for a little while today.

I feel like I am missing something but I looked all over and still cannot find it!!

Could someone be kind enough to point out where the oil filter is located. I did look in the stickys but it looks like mine a little different.

EDIT: I found it...It is integrated with with oil drain plug

Is this considered one of the GY2 engines?

I am still kind of confused about all the different manufacturers and similarities of these things :?

You were wise to adjust the valves. Tight valves must be avoided at all costs, since they can damage the engine, or be burnt by hot exhaust gases. 8O I'm confident you don't have any engine damage with under 3,000 miles on your virtually new motor. Change the engine oil regularly, and adjust the valves periodically, and your engine will last a very long time.

Good job, Dibe. The hondoid engines also have an internal, centrifugal oil filter, located under the right crankcase cover. You only clean this oil filter when you remove the right crankcase cover to service the clutch, et cetera.

Since I own a Yamaha clone, I am also confused by such things!

I believe the engines are basically the same in all hondoids; they are either pushrod or overhead cam engines. Other changes were made between the GY2, GY5, and GY6 models. However, I don't remember these changes.

No externally serviceable oil filter per se. There is a bolt anterior to the gearshift lever that has a screen under it you can clean. It's the size of a spark plug socket.

The internal oil filter that my good friend Spud speaks of is actually more of a trap than a filter. In the OHC engines, bits of aluminum mix with oil to form a pasty goo, and it becomes trapped in the oil pump pickup. There is little cause for aluminum debris in the pushrod motor, because there is no timing chain.

The OHC engines are designed much like the Honda XR200, in that they simply have machined saddles for the cam to ride in, rather than replaceable bearing shells. Once they become scored, there isn't much that can be done about it. The pushrod engines have no such setup, and are likely to be much more reliable in the long term.

Good point Weld. I have come across ruined XR200 heads due to the reasons you discuss.

I was following this http://chinariders.net/modules.php?n...ewtopic&t=7415 and kept looking for those damn 3 screws but couldn't find them..lol

The screen "oil filter" I did find was kind in the shape of a thimble and just wire mesh.

On a better note...I did take it off road for a few minutes today and it was blast..I just need to find some more places around my house for that now.

A plugged low speed/idle/pilot jet in very common in these bikes if they sit without Stabil.

If it runs at low speed better with the choke on, even if warm, that confirms the diagnosis.
