Lifan 200 GY-5 exhaust problem.
![]() So... I broke of the top bolt that hold the exhaust to the engine, I used a hose ring to hold it closer but it is not complete air tight. Anyone know any way to fix this, or have any ideas? |

Remove the exhaust header. Get a vise grip on the little bit of bolt sticking out and remove the broken stud. Take a trip down to ACE hardware and get a new stud.

I think I'm going to try heating it up and then removing it with vice grips on Friday, any suggestions before I try it?

Heat around the bolt. You want the aluminum to expand. Wait for Weld to give some input too.

Also what would be the best kind of vice-grip to buy, Curved jaw, straight jaw or long nose?

Heat around the bolt, if your using a propane torch don't worry about getting it too hot, its designed to dissipate heat.
some short nose non flat jawed vise-grips would be the best for that. also what is the hose clamp on the exhaust for?

unscrew it like a bolt, twist it counterclockwise.

Before heating it soak it with penetrating oil, clean off excess oil before heating and remember the first goal is to get some movement in the bolt, then unscrew so slight movement both clockwise and counter clockwise to "wiggle" the bolt loose sometimes works best.
