I wonder how hard it would be to get MCO's on them if we could do a group buy?

Reply from the seller to my email.

Hi,

Thank you for helping me to sell the motorcycle, I appreciate that.

I dealt directly with the manufacturer and not an importer. The contact person I dealt with was very professional and easy to work with. Her name is May Shee. Her email address is May Shee <xy806@xingyue.com> The most difficult part of the process was hiring a broker to get the bike cleared thru customs. As my ebay ad indicates, the bike is EPA and DOT approved. If this were not the case, a motorcycle with turn signals and street instruments would have never cleared customs.

I was planning on being a source for parts for this motorcycle but since I am not going to be a dealer, I can't do that. The bike is supposed to be a copy of the Honda XR250L, but I don't honestly know if the parts are interchangable since I did not have the opportunity to try this.

The bike in the picture was ridden by me up and down the road in front of my home. This allowed me to do a brief evaluation. It started right up, all 6 gears shifted smoothly, it was quiet, had very little vibration, and good power. I noticed that the stock jetting was a little lean. I expect that was done to meet EPA requirements. I adjusted the slide needle up to fix the problem. I'm not sure how fast the bike will go because the engine has not been broken in yet. I can say that the transmission ratios would be considered a wide-ratio gearbox. The breaks and clutch work fine. The biggest complaint I have about the bike is that the seat is hard as a rock. If you have any more question feel free to write. Thanks for your interest.

I asked him about the import process. I am not sure on the MCO, but someone would probably need a dealer's license.

Allen

My Roketa is neither DOT or EPA approved and it made it through customs just fine, obviously.

I have contacted the Xingyue Group in China about buying a sample bike from them. My contact in the company has contacted me back and quoted me a price. The price will be $1620 plus shipping. If anyone is interested in purchasing one of these contact me via a PM. The more I buy the better the price will be. I'd like to start a very small business selling these small inexpensive motorcycles. Many people in my area would like to have a high quality small commuter type motorcycle. We see more scooters and small bikes in our area everyday. I'd also like to find a central port to everyone's location on this first buy. We could meet there and collect our bikes. I think I'm in for 2 units.

Disclaimer: I am just checking into this. This may or may not float! My contact tells me that I can get a much better price, if I buy more than just one unit. I'm not sure yet what all will be involved in importing these or how warranty claims would be handled or if they would be handled. I still have lots of questions!

Sam, did you get a shipping quote? I may be able to drive to Savannah or Jacksonville to pick up a load and bring them to Atlanta. I think there are ports in SC too.

I don't think I could participate on the first batch though. The wife would not approve of a second bike.

I have to name a location before I can get a shipping quote from Xingyue on the shipping. That's why I wanted to check and see if anyone else was interested before I named a port.

If nobody else wants one, I'll probably just buy one! One unit may not be worth the time or trouble.

So far, I'm in for 2 and another poster here is in for 1. This is just tenative and I'm not holding anyone to anything and no money will change hands until I know MUCH, MUCH MORE!

I may start another thread.

If I didn't have mine I would get one. I think 1 small cc chinabike is enough though. My next one will be bigger for longer road trips with less rpm's. Either a used japbike or a NEW & IMPROVED china (when they start making 300-400cc DS's).

Well, I'm going to continue forward with this and check to see what shipping from China will be and what other costs are involved for importing for 5 units. I'll start another thread!

So is anyone going to buy this one on EBAY?

I'd buy it if I had mine sold.$500 all the stock plastic and even the extra good/runnning engine that came out of it.

I thought that it would have bids by now. I am wondering if the opening bid is what he has invested in each bike.
