As title states, bike is t starting sounds like it may be starter but I when I try to kick start it it still won't start.

Generally no, they don't have anything in common. A bad battery can be a common denominator when it won't start, though. (Among the usual suspects like carburetor, spark plug, CDI/coil or even poor valve clearance.)

The kick starter is independent of the electrical starter, and provides a backup. If the bike won't start with the kick starter, the electrical starter is not causing your ignition problems, and you need to look elsewhere.

true, essentially all you need is the stator/magneto, coil pack, and spark plug all in good working order for the bike to run. the rest is all for the other crap on the bike (lights, electric starter, signals, blah blah. pull the plug out of the head and touch the side to the frame to ground it while someone kicks the bike over and see if you have spark. if no spark, check the wires to make sure no loose connections, if those are fine its the coilpack or stator/magneto. oooorr u have a malfunctioning killswitch.
