I had a great time hanging out with both Spud and Doc. If you get the chance, I highly recommend it.

This is one of the best Ride Reports ever!
I have been to the Salt Flats, and even landed there (odd experience) but was never there for the speed runs. I am so glad you guys got to enjoy it so much. You really put some great effort into sharing the pictures and giving us a great narrative, Spud and Weld :-) It's like Mardi Gras for a gearhead. Some awesome and interesting machinery. I wonder if the salt hurts the antiques, or is it only corrosive if there is moisture. With the air so dry I bet short term exposure is harmless, just be sure to wash it off 100% as soon as practical. Still, Tom was wise to not drive the Viggan there, and Lord knows I would not run the Ducati! Sorry to hear about the Lifan, but there is always next year, and it did put in an honorable performace :-) Thanks also for posting the pics of DocLand, I enjoyed them also. Meeting you all was a high point of my vacation.

Thank you Weld and Spud for all the pictures. Some amazing classical cars there. Great to see you get together. Cool place indeed, what a ride report!

You're welcome! I'd definitely do that ride again, although I'd like to take my trusty TW next time.

You're welcome, Technolli. I'm sure that you will both enjoy the movie. I recommend extra volume during the beach racing scene.

We've followed your recommendation yesterday evening. I'm not quite sure if my neighbours would have recommended doing so.
![]() Great movie, very heart-warming, and it makes you courious to know more about this guy. Sadly the movie did not give very much technical information about his bike. |

I'm glad you liked the movie. I suspect that if the movie was more technical, our significant others wouldn't watch it with us.

You inspired me Weld.
I just borrowed The Fastest Indian from the library yesterday :-)

Bonneville looks like a 'magical' place. It was mentioned which Chinese 200 will break 100mph, but my guess it will be the CCW 223cc. I think they have a contest to do so on facebook.

I'd like to get in on that challenge. The Roketa Café might be just the bike for it.

On CCW's site, under the owners' bikes photos, there is a photo of the LSR Heist, as well as a certificate showing an average of just under 95 mph. That was on pavement back east, so perhaps salt might get one faster?

The only reason one might go faster on the salt is speed density. I guess a higher speed is also theoretically possible if holding at WOT for a longer period of time produces a higher speed. The track on the salt is eight miles long.
