Engine slow down
Any body had this problem? when engine upto operating temperature when I close the throttle to slow down it feels like the cable is sticking end engine revs take time to drop off, also when revd in neutral takes time to slow down to nice tick over. I have checked the cable free play, routing of cable and backed off tickover screw. Any help please.

Check the ruber boot where the cable enters the top of the carb, make sure it's not wrinkled and that the cable is fully seated. Also check that the cable isn't kinked or pinched.

Have you done any mods, how new is your bike, is it a new problem. I'm not competent to answer but the info might help others answer you .N2r.

OK from my limited experience I can think of a few things to check.
First thing : with the bike turned off - does the throttle snap back to the closed position or does it move slow? (bike off-give it full throttle-release hand from throttle and watch throttle) If it snaps back then you may have an airleak in the intake causing the bike to rev a bit before idling down. If it doesnt snap back but moves slow or stops then start checking for something causing the drag. Have you fell in the sand/dirt, sand can make the throttle sticky at the handle bar.If it is sand it will need to be cleaned out.(my wife did this and it was sticking good) Check to make sure the throttle handle grip is NOT pressed up against the handle bar end. (The throttle slides onto the handlebars and is hollow and open ended inside and the grips slides over the throttle tube so there is a chance the grip can rub against the handlebar causing drag) If this is the case just loosen the two bolts on the throttle and slide it over a little and retighten. If it's not up at the throttle then it is the cable or slider in carb. My advise is do not ride it until the throttle works right its just to dangerous. |

Make sure there are no air leaks on your compliance fitting between your carburetor and engine.

The c-clip inside the carb may not be seated properly or they may have installed the slide inside the carb backwards causing it and or the spring inside your carb to bind up.

Thanks for the replys. Carried out all the checks today, nothing really found apart from screw top on carb did not seam very tight. While in bits moved needle clip down one notch. I will test ride tomorrow and see if there is any change.

Tested
Tested after checks still the same. Throttle not sticking but engine revs take time to slow down when shutting off fully.
Could it be a mixture problem? Pilot jet may be? Which way makes it richer? |

fixed now
Made some adjustments to the mixture screw, now revs drop off as they should when slowing down.
