I've got my Zong geared for the trail, so I usually cruise around 45-50 mph. However, I ride at elevations of 4,400-10,400 feet above sea level. Riding at sea level with higher gearing, the Yamaha TW200, and the Zong, can probably cruise around 60 mph on level terrain. However, any air cooled, single cylinder, cabureted, 200cc motorcycle was never designed to set any speed records. The Zong is slow, but the Earth is patient.

Congratulations!

You have more miles on that little bike than I do on my Gold Wing!

I recognize that Texaco. That is the site of the Kawasaki Valdez diesel spill, where Roger cleaned his clogged air filter LOL!

We can't wait to get out there with his WR and my KLX this summer.

God bless Brother!

I stopped at the local Honda dealer where Brother Roger bought his air filter oil. They have some nice bikes for sale parked outside.

Today I rewarded the faithful Zong with a new pair of fresh tires. I replaced the old, Shinko, 524 front tire with a new one. The old Shinko 524 lasted 8,200 miles. This is a great front tire at an excellent price.

I also replaced the old, Kenda, K760 rear tire with a new one. I'm amazed to report the old K760 tire lasted 7,384 miles. The K760 is a great rear tire for any 200cc dirt bike.

Your riding style is excellent. Very smooth and merciful on the terrain and equipment.

On my KLX I get about 2,500-3,000 miles on it's 952's or 606's. The YZ400F will burn through a set of 952's in about 1,000-1,500 miles.

Wow! That's amazing mileage out of knobbies, especially on a lot of hard turf or pavement!

Very good seeing your Zong is still taking you where you want to go, amazing 100K. I wonder how many hours of run time that, it is at least a thousand plus hours! just wow!

I do not want to talk about how few miles I have on my Lifan, but it still starts and runs great. I have plenty of places to ride, but the weather here in the SE AK rain forest does no supply enough good weather to put on many miles.

Many thanks for your great pics and commentary!

The Zong doesn't make enough power to punish tires. I get lower tire mileage from my Honda XR650L, and yet even lower tire mileage from my CRF250X. In particular, the tires of the CRF250X get brutal punishment on very rocky, technical trails the Zong will never visit.

Other than a gentle throttle hand, I've discovered the best way to increase tire longevity is to keep both tires inflated to 26 psi at all times. I also rotate the front tire every 2,000 miles to prevent uneven wear from braking on pavement.

Truly an amazing achievement. I don't know of anyone achieving this record. Spud you are an inspiration to other Zong riders. Thank you for beautiful pictures. Wonderful area to explore for sure!

Interesting. I have 22psi front and 28psi rear but mine are street tyres. It's a good compromise for both street and bit of off road riding.
