Will a 49cc scooter fit in a midsize SUV?
I'm trying to pick up a scooter to get around on for the next couple months while I am away for work in SE Georgia(work doesn't pay for a rental car while I'm here). I found a guy a couple hours away who sells running 49cc China scooters for $150. The local car rentals only have a Chevy Equinox or Ford Edge this weekend.
Anyone try moving their scooter in something this size? A minivan or pickup are out of the question this weekend unfortunately.

NOT easy, but with PROPER PRECAUTIONS the scooter could be transported sideways . . example.
One strategy to empty fuel is to place the carb bowl drain line in a suitable container . . then pull a fuel petcock vacuum with an infant aspirator. If a 4-stroke engine, plug or pinch valve cover vent line to contain engine oil. |

Check with lowes or home depot for a rental pickup.

Thanks for tips and photos! When I get over to Avis I am hoping a minivan will become available so I can move it upright(ish).

Hey, I brought a old Honda Elite 50 from Nashville TN to Paris Tn ( about a 2-1/2 hour drive running the upper edge of the speed limit the whole way )
and it was in the back of a Ford Escort Hatchback. Mind you, I removed the wheels and handlebar. Bring some tools. Those things can be fairly short with no wheels and handlebar attached.

I was able to rent a Toyota Sienna which must have been designed with scooter moving in mind. With back row of seats folded down I was able to load it up no problem. With the scooter upright on its stand I attached the rear setbelts to the luggage rack and locked them out. The mirrors were removed, and the front wheel was wedged between the middle row of seats. So glad I didn't have to lay it on its side.
The scooter is a 2011 Zenshing 49cc with just over 1,000 miles. It looks horrible but runs incredibly well and no electronic issues. It is an "RMW RX-50" that came equipped with eco friendly biodegradable plastics and seat. On a long flat stretch I saw 42mph on the speedo which seems pretty good for a little scooter.

Nice job. Wet sand the lenses with some brake fluid and 1000 grit paper and some rattle can plastic spray paint for the body panels and you will be good to go. Watch some YouTube videos on how to recover the seat or even easier watch some videos on how to wrap the seat with black duct tape.

I rented a Uhaul pickup when I drove from Yuma to the Phoenix area to bring my TGB back home. They allow you to pre-calculate miles for long distances, and after looking at Google, I figured I needed 400 or so miles roundtrip.
Obviously, in this case, this was local, but trips like this are what Uhaul is made for!
