Put the new carb on, with new jets, perfect. Rides at 55mph with no stress. Idle was easy to set. I put a phone mount on it, my GPS matches the speedo. Topped it out at 62mph which was plenty.
Have new mirrors coming and a rear bag. Love the bike. My last bike was a new drz400s, which was awesome, but not worth the payment. The bike before that was a klx250s, which was good except at around 600 miles it developed a bad tick. Come to find out the cam wasn't hardened properly and had to be replaced. Was fine for the next 15k miles. That said, this bike is just as fun, minus some power, and cheap. Was an easy way to get back into riding. Sent my MCO request in today, hope tagging it goes smoothly. I'm in TN, has anyone else been able to get tags here? |

Mine wouldn't do it before the carb and 17t sprocket. I'm 240, so don't think it's your weight.

A JT rear sprocket, model JTR269 in the mid-40s teeth (member Wolftrax has a 45 tooth sprocket, for instance) would also help. Wolftrax got 68 mph out of his with just a 17 tooth countersprocket, 45 tooth rear sprocket, and an Ebay Mikuni carb. Don't remember the jets, but he has his own thread and mentions which ones. That is all he did (although I have to say I have no idea how much he weighs, LOL)

Got my MCO, took it to the county clerk, got my tags with no problems. She acted surprised on the VIN and "invoice" (which was just my PayPal receipt), but never acted as if it was a problem.
Very happy. |

I must say 2016 is a hawk hatch year. A verifiable baby boom for fledgling hawks.
