Is Hawk gas cap universal size?
I have been going through and figuring out and eliminating buzzes and other annoying noises coming from the Hawk. I'm down to the last and most annoying buzz. It's coming from the flap on the gas cap. I can't figure any way to fix it, as I think the flap is rivieted. As long as I hold my hand down on the flap, no noise. I can also eliminate most of the buzz if I turn the flap to the side. I'd rather just have no buzz, and flap stright if possible. Thanks for any ideas.

i think i am confused? do you mean the metal tab that swivels to cover the gas tank keyhole?
if so, something is different . neither of ours is loose enough to vibrate er go no noise.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's the flap. It seems to be getting looser as Now even when I have it off to side it buzzes. I was going to try a super thin piece of "cardboard"paper, cut into a small square, and place betwwen flap and cap. The dental floss idea is a good one as well. All I can say is its a horrible buzz, and I wont stop until it's gone. Haha! Otherwise the Hawk is sounding great!

So this is a stock photo from the website I bought the Hawk from. I am certain it's the keyhole flap. Horrible buzzing, if I even lightly put my finger on it, it stops. So, I'm either going to have to find something to "jam" in there to keep the buzzing down, or try getting the flap off.

Most of this style =
![]() As found on "ancestor" JH125L http://forum.jorsindo.com/forum.php?...rtype=1&page=1 (based from 80s XL125S) Honda Twin: CB125T, CM125... Thumper: MCR125 , CGR125 & tons copycat... --- "Buzz" is a common topic discussed in "MCR" board http://www.chyangwa.net/thread-604136-1-1.html | http://www.chyangwa.net/thread-90120-1-1.html Typical syndrome appears when 4.2-5K rpm / tank isn't full... Solution: Use something such as http://hengdatech.gmc.globalmarket.c...e-1374748.html glued that "fuel proof material" stop the buzz

Sometimes front cushion (Honda: 17611-286-000) cracked & "magnifies" those annoying buzz...
Quick & free solution: Replace it w/ a chunk of rubber thingy (non-function inner tube, old fuel line...) stops the headache....

Thanks everyone for the ideas, HB is the winner of the diagnosis. Since I got the Hawk I have been chasing down the little squeaks and buzzes, I realized today that the gas cap buzzing was a fairly new issue and the last one I had. Last night I tried wedging a couple super thin vinyl disc( think the little disc on a glass coffee table between glass and frame) it actually made the sound worse. I realized the "flap" has a lot of free play, on purpose, for snags and what not. While the buzzing is coming from the flap, it's the overall vibration of the cap that is the issue. I stopped to get gas on the way home, no buzz on the rest of the ride home. So as HB posted from other forums folks having issues when their tanks were not full, also appears to be my issue as well. I'm going to give a little thin foam weatherstripping a try under the cap area around the mouth, and hopefully that will do the trick. Thanks again all!
