How Difficult is it to change tube?

I made the mistake of using "slime" in my tube whan I first got my bike, (it had a flat tire when I got it from the factory) So now when I ride, it doesn't feel smooth. It's not terrible, but is noticable going 40+ mph. Do you need special tools? If so, hell, I'll probably just get it done by a pro.

You should learn to do it yourself. It is easy. Buy some good tire spoons off of Ebay. You need to be self sufficient IF... you ride in the outskirts of anywhere. Putting a patch on and getting home before dinner... know what I mean?

Here is the link to some good video's on tire changing

On the other hand, AAA sells insurance for M/C towing at $97/year. (ask me how I know what the price is... ) You have to get the R/V insurance to have a M/C qualify. I am sure there are other M/C road service companies but I haven't priced them quite yet.[/url]

It's really not that difficult. A decent set of tire irons is the key.
Here's a link on Adventure Rider that should be some help.

SLIME

Ok I just put a new Tube in my tire yesterday, I was wondering Should I put Slime in it as a back up? or is there another Alternative? Does it cause problems with the tires at Speeds around 55/60?

I ride about 70% street riding, so I don't really hit too many trails. so would it even be worth putting slime in my tires???

Also What do ya'll Think the best 60 ROAD/40 DIRT tire would be?

New tires is my next big purchase.

i have on experience with slime. i put it into my bike tire on my mountain bike and when the tire went flat...the slime made a total mess of the inside of the tire. I had to take it completely off my bike and clean it. and..that slime is sticky.

Same thing here. I don't use it. I carry a spare tube and patch kit & spoons. Learn to change the tube in the field and you will never be sorry.

60/40 road tire. Many opinions on every forum.

My choice would be Kenda K270.

You shouldn't have to be too worried about your tube if you set it correctly (not sure this is the right term).

What i mean is, you install the new tube, inflate it to about half psi that you're going to use normally (some tubes might be different), let it sit (don't ride it), deflate it, then re-inflate to the psi that you normally use, and ride!

The only other thing is, just change them out when you change your tire.

I dont think I'd use tire slime in a tube but I have thought about using it in the atv tires.
I think a tube is a bit to thin for tire slime to work well and a tube is easy to repair/replace but on a tubeless tire the slime would help along with tire plugs.

I use slime in the GY5 tube type tires. It could make the difference between having to break down and repair a tire in the middle of nowhere and being able to ride back and fix it at the campsite. I've also put slime in tube tires that were already flat with good results.

What is this tire slime? Like some sort of sealant you just put in your tires, so if it does puncture it seals up again?

That's it. It won't seal up a big hole or a ripped off valve stem but it does well on small holes. The only drawback I can see is that if you do get a big hole that the slime won't seal, fixing it on the road will be messy. It washes off with water though.
