Hopefully, once its approved, that engine can find its way into their nice looking new sportsbike, too!

Bruce,

I was thinking it had been approved back at the beginning of summer, guess not. That's crazy if you think about it. You can go out and buy a Chevy or a Hummer that gets 6mpg and is EPA approved, but they block a bike that gets 10 times that.

Hey Bruce, any idea if A.L. is planning on bringing gy-5a's in the future, or working on that liquid cooled 250 cc engine with the epa...

The 5a is the same engine right, so it wouldn't be a big deal to get in?

Honestly... I have no clue what A.L. is doing currently. I'm not saying much about them currently as there was just a huge blow out on The LF200GY Yahoo group.

Sorry

Looks like we should have this in Canada in a few months, talked to Coast to Coast motorsports today. They aren't planning on getting the gy5a though, which I think is a shame, I really like the look of that one.

That is one cool looking motard!

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed about the 300cc air cooled motard for the U.S. I hope???

Not all Canada is leaving Motorcycling in droves, here in Sask. Registration and insurance under 500cc is less that $100/year and Usually less that $650 over (With notable exceptions.) Bikes are moving like never before, especially put-putts, 100cc scoots, and the likes...

ALthough, here I have to agree-- People are asking, and getting stupid money for old bikes. There is just no way a Suzuki 750 LTD is worth $3200! Especially in Winter! Just watched a regular customer sell his 1981 BMW R65LS for $2800! And it was whipped! Like the family pig!

I often thought I should take a trip to the US, with a few grand, buy up a whack of old 80's stardards, and re-sell them up here...

Yeah, I've been watching the Vancouver craigslist, and prices haven't flinched for winter. Or for our stronger dollar. I got a 91 cbr 600 f2, and it was 3800... That's 17 years old... I wonder what it's MSRP was new?

Thanks Bruce!
I was posting something on the Yahoo DR650 forum. I was mentioning the Lifan that I used to have. I had to look at americanlifan.com to check something.
Wow! A 400cc? That was the first time I had seen it. I searched around chinariders looking for info.
Is the 400 engine loosley based on an old Japanese bike or is it an all new design?
Just curious, but not about to give up my DR650!
But I could always add another bike to my stable.

Edit: I think I just found out the answer. The LF400 looks suspiciously like a Yamaha Virago 400/535.
http://www.400ccm.ru/images/catalog/3-virago-94.jpg

Does the LF400 have a shaft drive?
