gy-6 fork adjustments

Hello, new to the forum, just picked up a gy-6 after many hours of research. The bike is great, had it jetted and opened up, lots of get up and go, only problem is that the front forks are soft, any sugestions on adjustment???

i read somewhere on here that adding 4 ounces of automatic transmission fluid to each fork would help with the mushiness. i've not tried it myself.

I've heard the same complaint about the GY-2/5. Some have added spacers (read: washers) between the top of the fork spring and the cap at the top of the shock. Your mileage may vary however.

Congrats on the new ride, From what I have read the fluid change should help some.

Since you're writing about the GY-6, I take it you're from Canada somewhere? (We have not yet been EPA-blessed with this bike yet in the US ) If you are from the same part of Canada as member 'Jim' he just purchased and assembled a GY-6, too. Either way, he can give you first hand accounts of this bike.

I haven't ever fiddled with fork oil and adjustments yet, I really do like my GY6 though, where did you get yours?

Hi Jim, my names kurt. I picked my bike up over here on the island, from Pacific coast power sports. Great service, good guys, very helpful. Ilike the bike the only problem is the forks are really soft, bottomed out on me quite a bit. Ill give them a call and get some info, Just wanted to try and find some things out for myself!
