crankcase vent cover in air box
i searched high and low for one of these covers for my 2016 hawk cause i know they were made for one but had no luck at all so i decided to make some. getting it to the right size and the location of those two holes was a pia! if anybody wants one paypal $11(shipping included) to surveyortim@live.com and send an email to chinabikeparts@outlook.com stating your name and paypal email address and what your ordering and it will be on its way to you. all you will need is a small screw to screw it down with. when i opened my airbox up it had oil everywhere even up in the intake boot. this cover will calm the oil down by making it hit the walls and sticking instead of going everywhere.

Unfortunately installing only the cover on the breather still doesn't help from the oil thrown onto paper filter element. The internal space should be staffed with something that catches the oil. In that case you need to install either the second screw (which is extremely difficult), or make the cover with a little tail, partially inserted into the crankcase vent intake. How to deal with separated oil? The following is my post from the different thread with more details.
By the way, it took me 15 minutes to cut it out from the piece of plastic. ------------------ Let's begin with the air filter and a crankcase vent. As appears, it doesn't have proper oil catch breather. That is the reason why many people complain about oiled paper element. It is pretty clear from the pictures how to fix this problem. ![]() ![]() Made plastic cover. ![]() Stainless steel dish scrubber used for the filling. ![]() ![]() Clean the drainage hole. Remove stock cap from the opposite side of the hole and install the purge tube. ![]() To make the purge tube, hit the end of the silicone tube with a lighter, than quickly grip it with cold pliers (don't press too much). Hold it for 10-15 seconds, cut excess. When the bike is on the side stand, the oil slow drips from the oil catcher into the purge tube. It should be cleaned periodically. ![]() |

with the one screw it cant rise up and over the pin. the baffle that is right in front of the vent hose catches the oil and it has to hit the side and change direction and once on the side its not airborn anymore. a yearly check of the airbox should be sufficient enough to clean out the oil.

The amount of oil in the purge tube shown on the last picture is just after two weeks. |

airbox could probably hold a quart befor it became a problem and probabl;y once it got above the vent it would drain back in.

I never got oil in my air box, I think the people who do either use oil that doesn't have enough anti-foaming agents (none of the Valvoline oils do), or, are putting too much oil in.

I'm very late to the party here. If I was using a stock airbox, I'd stuff PCV filter material in that vent chamber. It's cheap, disposable and easy to find.
