Mikuni VM26 30MM Carb With Exhaust Jetting/Adjustments

So I have a new Hawk 250 which I will soon upgrade with a new Mikuni VM26 (30mm) carburetor and also a new exhaust system and was looking to gather opinions on recommendations concerning jetting and carb adjustments which have been proven successful for Hawk owners in land elevations of between 600-700 feet above sea level.

I have read of jetting/adjustment settings for this upgraded carb already online, but am not sure what land elevation the recommended jetting/settings suggested were for. If anyone has installed the upgraded VM26 Mikuni 30mm carb on their Hawk 250, along with the recommended exhaust upgrade, and happens to live around 600-700 feet in land elevation, can you please tell me your recommended jetting and carb settings?? Thanks!!!!

Also, not sure if it matters as far as carb jetting/adjustments is concerned, but I am also upgrading to a NGK DR8EIX 6681 spark plug as well.

Thanks!!!

Just be aware that plug does not come with the screw on top cap.

Thanks JerryHawk250 for the info. Can you please tell me if these plugs will cause any issues when installed onto by bike because of this? I was under the impression that this plug would be an upgraded plug that simply replaced my stock plug without any modifications or issue. Can you please tell me more about the lack of this plug having a screw-on top cap? Thanks!!

Also, this is my first dirtbike/atv that I ever modified with any parts beside stock OEM parts from the dealer, so please forgive me if I seem completely like a total newbie. I have owned atv's and dirtbikes for many years but am new to the Hawk 250 and totally new to aftermarket parts and modifications from anything stock or factory on an atv or bike. So please bear with me on my questions!. Thanks!

Disregard the comment about the cap. Don't know what I was thinking. You don't need the cap.

My first recommendation is to buy only genuine Mikuni jets, both main jets and pilot jets. Aftermarket jets (the infamous "just as good as ---") are not anywhere near as accurate, or with repeatable results as the pure quill. They are not held to the same tolerances as the real things are. The commonly bought and used exhaust system is fine. Never going below 600 feet? You can start with a 115 main and a 25 pilot, but be forewarned, every engine is just a little bit different, so I can not just come out and say "use these jets". But those two should get you into the ball park....ARH
