Break In Your DS Correctly.

Hey everyone.

After reading on the forums for a while, it's become apparent to me that many people don't have a correct break in procedure when they get their bike. Even if they follow the suggestions in the sticky up there, they still are basically just putting the bike together and riding it.

By doing this, people are skipping the step that is crucial in determining how an engine will perform...the break in period.

I read it. That is almost exactly how I broke mine in. Short rides to get it hot while not taking it too easy. Probably too hard.

I have been abusing it since day one and it doesn't use any oil after 5000miles.

Who wants to break a bike in easy. That's no fun. With a 200cc engine the recommended break-in would drive you crazy

Yes i was agreeing with the method. Sorry if i didn't come across that way. I tend to type to fast and sometimes my points come off wrong.

You're right though, from the post you made it sounded like you were disagreeing with the method I linked to.

I agree with you 100% about breaking in the bike slowly...on a 200cc single it would be the most boring month or so of riding ever if you tried to break it in by keeping it under a certain RPM for 500 miles and then under another RPM for 1000 miles. That would be really lame.

that is pretty much what I did as well. read the article and it made sense so I tried it.
