Gas vent?

Can u ride with out the hose on top the gas tank?

Yes you can, but that hose is there to keep any fuel spray that could come out of that cap from getting near the rider. Some bikes have a short hose on top of the cap with a little one way valve or breather thingy. it vents the tank but its supposed to keep gas from coming out.

You can also use a simple hose that is routed into the steering stem nut, if it's hollow.
