Recommendations for a 13 yr old’s 1st ATV?

Anyone want to recommend an ATV for a 13 yr old? I was thinking about a 125 Coolster.

I think a 125 would be too small for a 13yo.

I would go with the Coolster 150 or TaoTao Bull 200. I got the Coolster 150 when my daughter was 14. It was perfect for her and now her mom rides it. It has held up real well too.

I would look for something like a Polaris Phoenix 200 or a Kawasaki Brute Force 300 (really a Kymco 300). They are both built like tanks, and easier to find parts for.

You can find used Phoenix's for around $1500.

The China 125 will be too small.. or will be too small very soon... When my daughter was 11 we got her a Tao Taoa 150 Bull, and my 6 yr Old the 125D. Now 13 and 8. The 125D would have been almost too small when she was 11. Now that she is 13 her knees would hit the handle bars on the 125D.. and feet will barely fit in the foot holds.
I wouldn't buy anything smaller than a 150.

I guess they were 9 and 5.. found this in an old post.

Thanks all ... I got my 15yr old daughter a 125cc Apollo RFZ so sorta "assumed" the 125cc range would work for the 12yr old boy. My 24yr old was never into riding.

Regardless, I will start looking the 150cc-adult-size-range. Thank you all again for your input.

I've been looking at the forums trying to hunt down the best place to by ... I was set on TXMotorsports but some have had bad experiences. I am thinking about this one from Q9? Opinions? Anything from the "if you had it to do over crowd"?

I went by which one picked up the phone when I called. It would be wise to do the same, because when you have a problem if they won't even pick up the phone.... you'll have a bigger problem.

Before you order call and see if the model your after is in stock, and what colors are in stock.

I ended up purchasing from FamilyGoKarts.com I spoke with Jeff and ordered up a Coolster 3150CXC 150cc. There was a problem with shipping and it took about a week and a half longer than I told. I got it together and it fired right up. He's only driven it a little thus far. The suspension is VERY taunt on it. I am going to have to get some replacement shocks and do some tuning but it's perfect for him thus far.

youtube

you should check youtube to see kids riding the atv and then it will help you with the size .... compare your kid to the one riding the atv in the video and see how they fit.. you always have to figure your kids skill level and where you are riding too big they will tip them... they all have about the same qualitity of motor and trans .. the 3 speed semi with reverse is really good if you have a lot of hills... compared to the forward & reverse model... cvt drive ( belt driven motor) is not as quick on the takeoff.. and for ground clearance you can always put a piece of tin or ??? over the chain drive to keep out the weeds and grass... I see some of the newer models have the disc brakes on the FRONT & REAR ... plus the mag wheels ... looks really nice.. a lot of times it is better if you spend the extra for the better model... and the bottom line is if you buy from a good dealer you can get parts when you need them... a lot of TAOTAO dealers out t here and parts is no problem.
