Question Title and Registration for Hawk 250

I am close to buying a Hawk 250. I am just concerned about getting the title and registration for the bike. I live in Ohio and I don't know where to start and what I have to do before I go the the BMV.

Yes. In NY you need to bring the bill of sale, MCO/MSO (which should be mailed by wherever you bought your Hawk), driver's license, insurance cards (FS-20's...make sure you add your Hawk to your motorcycle insurance policy), and you'll need to fill out a couple of forms that the DMV provides. There's a sales tax form as well as a registration form. Be prepared to pay 8-9% sales tax at the DMV depending on your tax rate, so bring a credit card.

https://dmv.ny.gov/registration/regi...-title-vehicle - that link contains all the information you need including links to the forms which you can fill out ahead of time. If you don't know your county sales tax % the DMV can help out with that (just leave it blank). The DMV will hand you your license plate and a temporary inspection good for 10 days. You'll get the title in the mail a few weeks later. Search Google for places that do motorcycle inspections in Rochester, NY - there are lots of them.

I had no issues at all registering my Hawk in the Buffalo, NY area just an hr or so away from you.

I am in Ohio and had no issue registering a hawk and magician purchased from Q9 earlier this year, you need the MCO and bill of sale

I think the majority of issues people face have to do with (a) either lacking paperwork in one way or another or (b) the actual dealer/seller was the issue. Errors on the MSO/MCO (such as an incorrect vehicle classification) or incorrect mappings in the VIN database. For example, a dealer sells a Hawk but enters it into the VIN database as an ATV or something other than a "MCY" (motorcycle). That's guaranteed to cause registration issues at the DMV in any State.

I just bought a Hawk and also live in Ohio. Like others have said, all you need is the BOS and the MCO and take it to the Title Office. They’ll issue you a title and you can then get it registered in the BMV. I actually did it just today with no problems in Greene County.

mco will probably list it as an rps hawk but in the dmv database it is a hoesung(???spelling) or something similar. at leats in alabama it was that way. maybe someone can pipe up with the right name.

That's correct...it comes up as "Haosen Hawk" in the DMV database.

Really? When I registered it in Ohio, it was RPS Hawk 250.

may be state dependant b ut didnt want you to get caught with what the hell is it if it happened to be like alabama.
