Hawk Rear Shock Question
I have this shock headed to me from the motherland. Is it ready to install or do I need to take it somewhere to have it charged before I put it on the Hawk?

Mine came charged, but as with anything from that part of the world for that price point, it doesn't hurt to check lol.

Will I be able to readily tell if it is precharged when I get it?

Yeah, it should be obvious once installed. With little or no pressure the shock will be as useful as a marshmallow. A pressure gauge can also be used.

What PSI are you running in your shock?

I left it with what it had for a charge when I got it, which was only about 60psi. I haven't had a chance to ride it on anything rough enough to know if I should adjust it from there. Most rear shocks run well above this (usually double or more), but given the nature of these shocks - where they come from and no reservoir - I am hesitant to go as high as some other shocks are capable of. Once the weather warms back up I am going to slowly add pressure 10psi at a time, to see how it does.

Mine came with a charge and is 1000 times better than the stock. You'll be happy.

most shocks are around 140psi of nitrogen ..
they are pre filled and non adjustable for psi... air valve on the shock seems to be a Chinese thing...good selling point for the uninitiated which is the Chinese market to most existent.. gimmicks / bling and cheap sell... there were a few jap shocks with a air valve and internal bladder... LOL.. I have just ordered a set of Chinese Ohlins copies... look identical to Ohlins TTX... but the compression adjusting nob is stuck on for looks and dosnt even turn.. lol toss some Ohlins stickers on them... Who will ever know I'm a cheap bastard.. They will be Ok for a 1980 KL250.. .. ...
