Chonda, does it seem to you that a skid plate that would fit from the KTM model that you used for your tank or even one of the four stroke models that use the same frame?

Went into Pitster Pro today and picked up a front brake lever and shifter. While there I showed them some pictures and asked about getting access to the EFI tuning at a deeper level; the head guy wasn't there, but the parts guys said that they are actively pursuing a way to make tuning changes.
I volunteered to be a tester/Guinea Pig. Hope they make it happen. THAT would take this bike to another level. |

Pitster Pro 250 LXR EFI Top Speed 15t front sprocket
Tried out my 15t front sprocket today. This is the sprocket you want for making this bike a good all-arounder. It still has good take off power, but cruises at 45-65mph so much better than the 13/51 stock setup. No doubt one could ride all day at 65mph with no issues.
I ran down to the interstate by my house to see how much the 15t sprocket helped top end speed. Here's the stats: 260lb rider, 15/51, altitude 4900 or so, 86-88F temp, top speed attained was 79 mph. Going the other way there was a stiff headwind and the best I could do was 76 mph. No doubt a smaller rider could hit 80+. Sprockets are the same as a Suzuki DRZ400. PBI 650 series is my preference. I have a 650-15 and a 650-12 now. The 15 fits with no clearance issues except a small piece of plastic from the chain wear guard that needs to be trimmed off: This is probably the fastest I will ever ride this bike. It handles well on concrete freeway with lines in it, but this is not what the bike was built for. The less slab I ride the better, plus I prefer 60 mph cruising speeds. More than 60 is just too much wind, noise and vibration. Vibration at speed is a concern. The bars do vibrate more than I like. Is it possible that it may calm down as it breaks in?? Do you think the vibrating is coming from engine, tires or wind? A simple thing to try. Next time at speed sit a little farther up on the seat and tuck in a little more. Try to get a little more weight at the front of the bike.

Definitely the motor.

Installed some anti-vibe brass bar inserts last night. Unbelievable difference at idle. Can't wait to fully test after I get the radiator back from the shop.

I ordered the brand Highway Dirtbikes - they are designed for use with their handguards, which I bought about 10 years ago and keep moving from bike to bike- because it simply the best rear view mirror/handguard setup I have found.
