hawk 17t front 50t rear

So i just pt on my 17t front sprocket on my hawk. It has stock chain & stock 50t rear sprocket. I dont know how tight yall chain are with this set up, but mine is way too tight! making some odd clanking noise at low speeds.. i run 70 percent on road. I was wondering what other sprockets can i use with stock chain? I dont want to cut the chain but i will if needed. Just a complete noob here

I love the feel of the bike with 17t x 50t... is adding a link to the stock chain a possibility?
