Be thankful that didn't happen on the freeway!

Jay's new Hawk will be here Friday morning!

Doubt the Toyota will be fixed in time so we may have to pull the big Chevy out of storage, which involves charging the battery and adding some tranny and brake fluid. Be easier to transfer the crate though because it sits so tall. 😎

Uhgg.. well I paid a tow truck $100 to bring the Yota home today, but he wouldn't pull it up my scary driveway, so Jay tried to unsuccessfully back it up the driveway. Well I had Travis tear it apart on this incredibly steep incline. Turns out the drive axle has been the only thing holding the wheel on for quite awhile and it finally sheared off. The spindle is gone along with the axle, hub etc.. and it's blocking the driveway so no one else can get by. I'm hoping my neighbor will bring his backhoe down tonight to move it. The scary part is we just drove the truck 200 miles to Columbus.

Between you and Jay I don't know which one of you two has the worst luck.

Cousin Jay just took out the Hawk. The first ride since he swamped it 3 weeks ago. He ofcourse bitched about riding it and said he'd be back 30 minutes later. 2 hours later he returned with a huge smile on his face, but still saying the green Hawks are faster, lol.

Obviously, we've got a few obstacles to overcome between now and monday. Our.options are getting lower and fewer,. While our window of opportunity shrinks.
Now while I'm trying to work on the "big chevy" so we can drag that piece of yota up the hill. Frank's busy whining bout the hawk sitting too long. SOoo, I take it on what is supposed to be a short ride. Didn't work out that way. Bout 70-80 hawk'Ometers later I made it back to his place. Running like a champ even after the "swamping". I'm happy to say. Now that I'm not a tbr owner it's rough to find something to bitch about. So I settled on the color being all wrong.

Still, now that I've lowered myself, (thanks whole heartedly to all that helped), into being a fellow hawk owner. (Hard to keep up a rivalry when ur both riding the same dam). I suppose I'm going to have to start a new thread. I believe that "Faster than Frank" will make a decent title.
Now I'm relying on everyone to make this hapen, even though he's got quite the jump start on me.
I still have several factors in my favor.
A. 100 lbs less of ballast.
B. 12 inches of so of less " sail" or wind resistance.
C. Got to look better. Only one I'm not worried about. Hell it's me sitting on it, that alone...yada yada. Handsome devil n such. Frank on other hand,.... ( you guys have seen the pics of Frank, he's like a soulless ginger kid version of shrek). All Fee Fy Fo Fum n shit.

Still all the vs aside, had a super good time riding Frank's hawk today. Felt sure footed as a Billy goat in the gravel, some of it heavy, plus potholes everywhere. Hawk is a great bike. Especially one that's already had all the shortcomings of a regular China bike worked out of it. Can't wait to get mine to that level.
Was near the "end game" with my tbr. (Big sigh). Reset button n such. Still needed aggressive tires. But still done with.my musings on what coulda been. Gone now.
Gotta restart with this hawk. Better overall starting structure. Taller tires n such. But still feel like sheading a tear, for all I had already done to it. (The tbr).
Got plenty to go. Not looking forward to taking the carb off 10-15x. Or forking out the dough for new exhaust n such.
Well all the things one must do to take it from stock, to truly rideable.
But the journey is what makes it "your" bike.
Still though, without all of you awesome MF's, wouldn't even be able to begin this journey anew.
Instead of MF's, should say 'CR's'!

Soulless ginger kid version of Shrek.. 💩

Hey now, I resemble that remark! I'm happy to say my neighbor Tim came to the rescue with his big John Deere. He wrapped a strap around the spindle and literally carried the Yota up the hill and parked it outta the way. I was just thinking about how much $ it actually took to "get the bugs worked out" of the Hawk.

$100 to tune the suspension. Shock, fork oil, spacers etc.
$140 for the bulletproof final drive. Chain, sprockets and studs.
$100 to replace defective front tire and heavy duty tubes.
$35 for IMS folding shifter. Definitely a must if you ever lay it down.
$100 for performance exhaust system.
$70 for LED lighting.
$30 to tune the stock carb and wider footpegs.

So $575 + $1,378 + $190 for tax tag and title. And if you count the initial oil change that puts us at $2,150 for a bike that starts runs and rides flawlessly. Not bad at all.

And something tells me it will have a digital cluster, swingarm upgrade, Tusk rims and a ported head by next spring.. 🤔😁
