Yes the clutch does nothing. I have to start it in neutral. If I try to put it in first gear the bike lurches and stalls.

All looks normal. If you operate the lever by hand does it feel like it's moving the pressure plate or does it feel like it just stops or just not engaging anything? Does the bearing turn freely?

I fixed it!!!!!!!!! It was the pin that engages the pressure plate. I used the one from the Hawk and the cover dropped right into place. I then tightened the cable a little bit and voila. Strange thing is the pin from the loncin works fine in the Hawk. It will make more sense in the video. So now i gotta get this thing back together and take it for a ride.

I would still notify the seller to let him know what happen just in case some other issues come up. Never know he might offer a small refund because of the problem.

Sounds to me like more of an assembly quirk/issue. It may have been misaligned or otherwise installed poorly. I almost wonder if you would re-assemble it with the original pushrod/pin, if it wouldn't simply start working on its own.

I recall somebody here had a clutch issue, took the clutch apart, found no problems, reassembled it, and the clutch just started working. The goofy world of Chinese engines/bikes at its finest.

I tried doing that first. The 2 piece pin included with the Loncin would not work. The case just wouldnt fit down properly and if you made it fit, the clutch would not engage. It stuck out slightly further than the Hawk OE pin. Switching them around fixed it. Id say that the pin is not machined properly. Video will be out today shortly.

So has anyone seen the video of the London RE250 engine in his Hawk? Heck it wouldn’t surprise me if it was one of you guys. I don’t know how to post a video link. The YouTuber is Jack of all Master of none.

Where's the counterbalancer supposed to be on these? I know that with most of the clones, it's on the clutch side, but in your pictures, it wasn't... Is the bike smoother?

THIS engines is often used in china dual spurt and magician bikes, CG hasn’t been so common in several years etc.
Should be a nicer engine and better power etc
You got the stator wires and CDI all hooked up? Prob easier to just mid the stock hawk loom rather then trying to mod the other loom you got etc

Yes. Its all hooked up. Check a couple of posts up for the video. Its long, but pretty comprehensive for anyone else who may want to try this. Jury is still out on whether its really worth it.

I also looked at shipping engines, it’s rather a hassle and I doubt many would want it etc
They’re just expensive as hell to ship etc and then many folk demand to much so I kinda just let it be....
Greeting from sunny n warm Vegas! Yes I’m in the USA at the moment n caught up with a Vegas member to check out his Bashan that’s near identical to the hawk etc
Good to meet folk face to face etc

What you are used to seeing is the chain driven counter balancer that is offset very far forward of the crankshaft - this is seen on the TT250 and Bashan Brozz. These engines drive the counter balancer off the crank directly with a gear. It allows it to be much more compact, which is why it just barely fits in the Hawk frame, while the other versions will not.
