I just wanted to follow up real quick. I fixed the shifting issue. I ended up buying some oem Honda CRF230F parts, which are a direct swap for the most part as the Loncin is a clone of the Honda CRF230F OHC engine. I bought a new shifter spindle as well but the length of the rod on the Honda part was too short so I didnt use it . It wasnt the problem though. I believe the issue was the gearshift plate, that actuates the cam on the shifter drum. I had to remove the clutch and oil pump to properly fix it, but all is well now. The ebay seller is supposedly going to send me new Loncin parts but I got tired of waiting and substituted better Honda stuff instead. I also threw on a new Honda clutch cable as well, since the crappy Hawk one stretched all to hell. So I think Im done for the winter but come spring Ill upgrade to a Nibbi carb and see what else I can get out of this thing. The fact that my Hawk is basically a CRF230F now is encouraging.

The RE250 is semi common in mid to lower end bikes sold in China,I fail to see why you couldn’t get parts fairly easily etc. Just sayin... I know a Loncin engine n parts supplier in Chongqing n my mate sells a brand of magician that uses the RE250 engine - shouldn’t be that hard to get get bits |

That twin exhaust looks like a bad photoshop. Is that something that is actually in use? It seems like there wouldn't really be a good purpose for its existence, unless I'm missing something.

Yeah, I know about that. I think in the 30s there were some bikes with a split port for a single valve, but it definitely isn't common. It doesn't look real, that's what I was pointing out, and I'm skeptical of the utility.

The only one Ive seen with dual exhaust is the Tekken 250, but I believe it splits into duals for looks only out the back. It does use the RE250 engine and sounds great.

I've wondered about that very thing, specifically with my old XR250R. I presume it's about area; two 1" exhaust ports have more area that a single 1.5" port. I'm not sure about it, but do I have the ability to go on at great lengths on subjects I know nothing about.

I feel a lot of the reasoning is that the head casting can be made smaller
with out having the xtra size needed to converge the ports togeather in the casting and giving better angles... if it really had any real performance merit I am shaw you would see V12 F1 motors with 24 header pipes.... but you don't... Honda and Yamaha also did it on the inlet side... twin inlet ports with a carb on each port... But the Loncin is solely for looks.. in fact it could be to much exhaust pipe area.. ..
