TBR7 Interference with 17t Front and O-Ring Chain

Trying to help a friend. Is anyone running this successfully?

TBR7 with 17t front and O-Ring Chain. It was already rubbing with the stock chain. Now it's a physical squeeze with an O-Ring Chain. Sprocket flip won't work on the TBR7, the shaft is too short.

He wants to grind out metal but afraid he will blow through.

I swapped my TBR7 for a 17 tooth with zero issues ( running stock chain ).

Not really sure what you mean it was rubbing ... rubbing what?

Where did you get the 17tooth sprocket from? ( I bought Tako's kit from ebay )

Here is a pic of chain rub with 17t and stock chain. I do not know where the sprocket came from, Amazon I think. Chain rub is a common issue but not on every bike.

I'm wondering if the diameter of the 17 tooth sprocket you purchased is slightly larger than mine from ebay... or it could simply be the width of the new o-ring.

Listen, we all got into this 'china rider' sport to tinker and take some calculated risks ( with the bike ..NOT our lives ).

I say take a grinder to it and never look back.

Again, this was with stock chain. He is preparing to grind to accommodate O-Ring Chain, but wanting to hear from others who have used a grinder.

I also have a TBR7 with a 17 tooth drive sprocket and am still using the OEM chain with sufficient room. Is it possible that the sprocket you have is bias to one side and if it was mounted the opposite way (flipped over) you may have more clearance?

Had another thought. Did you up the chain size from the stock 428? I had considered that when the OEM chain fails but so far it seems to be plenty of chain for the TBR7's HP...

A bias offset sprocket is a very strong possibility, this stuff is coming from random parts of the world with little to no QC

An o-ring chain on a 428 chain saps quite a bit of power, I'd just switch over to a 520 chain conversion at that point.

I just put on 17 front, 45 rear, 130 link o ring 428 and had same rub. Part of my issue was on my hand test I forgot the sprocket does not sit all the way in. Still rubbed a little but ground it a bit and no issues. All seems to work together well now.
