ETA, you might want to get a new CDI unit, I had all manner of issues that felt like fueling, but were caused by the CDI getting hot and failing. these bikes are cheap for a reason
Thanks for responding so quickly! so i noticed i got 2 votes for 115 and one for 110 and you also mention changing to a 38 pilot, but you are 1100ft, so im wondering how to tune that to 0 feet.

As for cdi, any specific recommendations? I think the plug that im supposed to be looking at is a DPR8, but im not sure if i have the resistor cap or not, so i wouldnt mind a upgrade.

I had to cut the middle pipe and and reposition it to clear the frame rail that the rear foot pegs mount on. It also would have fouled on the air box had I not removed it. You might be able to bend the pipe to make it fit, but I have a welder so I chose that route.

I just got a replacement from vmc, we roll the dice with spares on these bikes due to the unknown quality of the parts. My cdi failed at about 500 miles and the replacement one is at about 800 so far but isn't exhibiting any of the issues that the original had

What about coil and spark plug cap? I seen an orange coil on vmc and im wondering what plug to go with what type of cap if im going with that simple looking coil? I feel like I should get an ngk boot and im surprised no one is recommending actual honda parts for the coil and cdi?

I feel as if this bike just needs to be a different bike...

a CDI coil is a CDI coil all it does is spark when commanded to by the cdi box... some people have even modded their bikes by using car style coil on plug units, all you do is extend the wiring from the coil to reach the now on plug coil. i have a GM C.O.P. unit in my toolbox to do that mod someday.... less high voltage wire= less resistance=hotter spark

I've done that mod on my Hawk. Much better than the stock coil. I'll eventually do the same on my X22R 250.

Doh! 428HD Chain doesn't fit with 17T Sprocket

Here's what I am going to be using (yes sprocket part #'s match for front) but the brand new stock chain does not fit with the 17 teeth Front sprocket and stock rear sprocket (sooo close though)
JT Sprockets JTR269.45 45T Steel Rear Sprocket
JT Sprockets JTF259.17 17T Steel Front Sprocket

Once I get the new Sprocket bolts(ordered genuine? honda ones) and new chain I will swap them all out for the above....

I find the above post to be true. I've attempted an HD chain and it hits the back of the case on my TBR7. The 17T sprocket mentioned fits but the larger change, my RT 428HD chain didn't fit. Any ideas about the correct chain for replacing the front sprocket on this bike, I'b purchased 2 and both don't fit.

that fit with the 17 tooth front and 45 rear? i am asking not in disbelief but that sprocket combo is pretty common and to find a chain that fits right is a nice find....oring no less...

It fit both the 17 front w/46 rear and the 17 front w/ 42 rear but the latter was almost at the extreme of adjustment.

Just to let all the TBR7 people out there know that the muffler i picked up from Amazon did not have the correct flange size as i would have had to enlarge the holes due to the studs being further apart.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So since i noticed they have the same diameter on the inside, i noticed the only real difference is the new one was open throughout the muffler part and the original had some plug in it, so i took it apart and cut off the plug, now its straight through with almost the same diameter except the tip that had the plug is slightly smaller.
She sounds great! I also plugged that stupid port on the exhaust pipe.

I also took advice and went 115 along with getting an accerator pump style carb and she boogies now with no flat spot!!! if y'all want pictures of plug I cut off, i still have it.

Questions are:
1. Why wont the bike start with the choke on?
2. Why doesn't the kickstart work on a cold start? Is it related t question 1?
