TT250 Jet Kit install, high idle

Hey all,

I just installed the bigger jet kit in the TT250, but now my idle is rediculously high. Like 12k high. I tried adjusting the idle screw, but it doesn't seem to be dropping the RPMs. I checked the throttle and it seemed ok, but I'm still getting high RPMs. Is it from the kit? Or just some odd user error?

Is your cable seated in it's small bore on the threaded cap on top of the carb?

^ this.. if you insert the carb slide in the wrong orientation that will happen.. try unscrewing and then re-orient it to the other side, making sure it slides all the way down before you screw the top back on

You know a lot more in this area than I do. I was just mentioning what I saw in a MotoCheez video after he jetted a Brozz carb.

Thanks for the replies, I'll take a look tomorrow and see what's up with it. It probably was on wrong. I'll update when I figure it out

Update and I still need some help

So it was the needle on backwards. I fixed that, but it's now idleing at 4k at full choke. I did modify the airbox to allow more airflow, should I set the needle leaner to drop the RPMs?

To rule it out, make sure the throttle adjustment is correct.. it may be holding the throttle slightly open. You can spin the adjuster loose, put in some slack if needed to validate that.

Check to make sure the cable is inserted all the way in at the top of the carb.

It's also possible the end of the cable isn't seated correctly in the throttle slide.
Also on some of these bikes theres a hose that connects to the intake between the carb and head, make sure that didn't come off (or cap it off if you've removed the smog stuff). It would cause a vacuum leak and high idle.

Your throttle slide is stuck halfway open. That is your problem.

Yeah, that would definitely do it. Needle ia likely bent a bit now too.
