Taotao 125D

My granddaughters TaoTao 125 D will not run, it has no spark at the spark plug. It will turn over fine with the electric start, just not firing. I have ordered and replaced the CDI box, the kill switch, the coil, spark plug and the rectifier. I’m a pretty good mechanic but I don’t know what else to try. I have checked all the wiring plugs but I have not put silicone on them. Anyone here have some suggestions? Also anyone have a wiring diagram for this particular taotao 125D.

Here's a page with a bunch of them. One will work. I have one of these ATVs also. There are a couple of things that have to happen for this to start. The rear brake needs to be engaged as a safety feature. Also, it will turn over even if the kill switch is activated. Make front of the switch is pushed down (run mode). I had trouble with mine and found it was the rear brake switch. The wire was worn and wasn't making the connection. Check to make sure the brake light is on when pressing the brake petal.

David3921, I have noticed the rear brake light switch is not making the brake light come on so I have been using the front brake on the handlebar to get it to turn over. Do you suppose the rear pedal brake not working the light would be the problem not firing? If so I could simply tie the wires together and then see if the spark plug fires. I don’t think that will be the problem solver but if it does that’s great. Those stop light switch’s are pretty cheap anyway. I have already replaced that switch once months ago.

Sounds like that's the problem. Tie the wires and it should fire up. Mine will only start with the back brake petal engaged. I didn't have to replace the switch as I was able to repair the wires.

Cool I’ll try that. Surely hope that works. Thank you for responding. I’m not at home now, will be Sat. Or Sunday before I get to try that.
