Dumbest question of 2021
How do you check the oil on a Tbr7? I think im overfilling it.
I check the dipstick and the oil is between the lines and it blows it out the crank vent until there is barely a tiny drop on the end of the stick. I went through 2 quarts today. |

I just fill mine between the marks on the dipstick with the bike level (not on kickstand). I've only had it blow a little oil into the box one time and that was after a few highway miles at full throttle trying to not get ran over.
If the bike is still pretty low mileage, it may need some time to break in and let the rings seat. That may reduce the crank case pressure and the blow by.

Procedure is to run engine until hot, 5 minutes idling if cold, then between lines on dipstick while level.
Honestly I just hold mine level and if I see oil in the sight glass, I know it has oil. I'm bad. |

I'd probably do the same but my tbr7 doesn't have a sight glass.

Honestly, the manufacturers should make it so the level is correct when it’s on the kickstand.

They would have to specify different engine types for every version of every bike that has different kickstand heights and wheel diameter.

This is exactly right! Just a side thought also, keep your tire pressures up or experience flats. Tube and spoke problems come from low pressure...just a thought.

yep to many variables, suspension settings, sag from accessories, uneven ground, all would cause different readings.

A simple pendulum, with oil level marks on it, in a sight glass would solve the whole thing. Or a sight glass more like the sight glass in a level with a U shape and proper markings on it for tilts to 20 degrees would work too. There might be slight error with the pendulum from the shape of the crankcase not being cylindrical, but it would be slight. There would be no error at all with a U shaped level tube/sight glass.

Servicing the bike (esp. the wheels/tires) would also be a lot easier if you could just flip it over on its saddle like a bicycle, too, but you cannot do it with anything larger than a minibike/moped, and even then most won't like staying in that position with gas in the tank.
