First image of the 2022 Lifan KPX250 for the U.S. market

For those who don't know, Lifan has confirmed a 250 dual sport is coming to the U.S. this year. It's based on the X-Pect 250 they sell in other countries. It has quite a few differences from the X-Pect 200. The 250 has more power, better suspension and a 6-speed transmission.

I saw a Lifan dealer post this on Facebook. There are some cosmetic differences compared to the Chinese market X-Pect 250.

The photo of the KPX250 makes it hard to tell what they did with the front forks. It almost looks like the KPX250 does not have the inverted forks of the X-Pect 250.

The dealer said they would be charging under $3000 for the new KPX250.

First two pics show that the plastic fork protectors are fake. Not inverted. Third pic shows actual inverted fork (China market?).

Yes, the third pic with inverted forks is the Chinese model. I included it for comparison.

Also, the image of the KPX looks like it might only be a computer rendering, so who knows if it's 100% accurate to the final model.

Maybe; but I recently saw an actual pic of a rider in S. America on a Chinese bike (I forget the brand) with the non-inverted fork and the nonfunctional fake lower protectors. They are only on there for marketing purposes, which looks stupid, like the nonfunctional plastic on tanks. I'd much rather have the old-school look of no unnecessary plastic.

Truth be told, they both look great! I’d be tickled shitless with either one….. Already have approval from upper management 😎, for my Spring purchase. The trade off? She decides where our anniversary trip will be the coming Fall. I have a strong feeling that trip will be in the neighborhood of around 3 grand…. I don’t mind though. I get pleasure out of both expenses 😜

The rendering photo looks a bit too 'slick' for what we can 'X-Pect' (couldn't resist )the bike to look like. I have a feeling the bottom photo from Lifan's China site will be what the US market will get, or at least I hope so. Unless they market it like the SSR XF250 that is available with either off-road-ish tires or the 17/17 supermoto style.

I only hope they re-do the 200 with the already EPA and CARB certified KP200 engine. That would give them a leg up on the Chinese competition and give the Honda XL a run for the money with a budget fi/water-cooled/6-speed dual-sport bike that can also be marketed to beginning riders. I know, I know...dreaming, but I had been hoping for the X-Pect 200 to be powered like that since before it actually came to the US.

Then again, I do think American Lifan lost an opportunity to sell its KPT200 adventure-style bike since they began importing their KP/KPR200 bikes here. I do like the fact they brought over their KPM cafe style bike, but wished they gave us their KPT and put that sweet 200cc engine into a dual-sport.

You can really see what a non-real bike the blue one is when you try to see how the tire treads look.

I was trying to see if they were using the same stock tires or maybe some more aggressive ones.

Then I saw that they were using racing slicks???

Then I saw that the tires are just round, black circles drawn in. Ha ha ha.
