I’m about to order a hawk 250 dlx, is there a better place to order than Amazon? I’m planning to use this as a commuter, would a 17/40 sprocket be best for that? I also plan on ordering some Shinko 705’s to start with, is there a better tire than this? A full street tire would be fine with me.

Yes, there is a better place. Order it directly from PowerSportsMax. That's the vendor that sells on Amazon, but the price on their own website is significantly better.

There are street only tires that work on a Hawk. If you don't plan on going off road at all, then those would be the way to go. Otherwise, the 705's are great tires. I had them on my first Hawk and I put over 3k miles on them and they barely showed any wear.

There are a few options for road tires, including an option from Shinko called the Super Classic 270. It's an old school style nylon bias ply tube tire that comes in sizes perfect for the Hawk Rims. 3.0 x 21 front and 4.5x18 rear.

The Continental Conti Go! tire also comes in sizes that will work 90/90-21 and 120/90-18. Price is a bit higher with those, about 230 for the set.

The 705's are hard to beat for the price, which is why they tend to be so popular for road use.

There are a couple others I can't remember right now, but there are other options I haven't named here. Most of them are more expensive than the 705's as well.
