Can't decide what to do.
I thought I wanted the Hawk, then I thought I was going to get the Templar X and now I am thinking about the Lifan x-pect. I have about 2000.00 to work with and I can get any one of them on layaway from powersportsmax. I spoke with a nice young lady today in the sales department and she informed me that a black Friday sale is about to happen.
I don’t know what to do!!! I had a Lifan GY-5 years ago and this new one is the same motor I think.. not very powerful. The hawk is more powerful but less quality build and then there is the Templar X which is even more powerful and seems heavy duty as heck but in other ways it bores me. This totally sux. I’ve watched every freakin’ video on YouTube I can find on these things and I am still at a loss. The one thing that worries me about the Templar X is the Russian factor which I don’t fully understand and am probably worried about for no reason. HELP! |

If I hadn't decided to go over budget for the KPX 250 (glad I did) I would have chosen the Hawk DLX. Sounds like what you are looking for.

I worry about parts availability for the Templar X, but man is it stout looking. I have always complained about the indecision of others and here I am being exactly the same way. |

I understand some of the info about the Templar X is coming from Russian riders and since they cannot seem to keep their own military equipment in running order, I wonder how I can ever trust them when it comes to a Chinese dual-sport motorcycle.

The real question is what kind of riding are YOU interested in? Not me (or us).
If you want a dual sport, with 60-70% road driving, then get the Hawk or Bashan Storm. If you want more off road, but have to drive on the road 30-40% of the time, buy one of them, but just switch to knobby tires, or you can pay a little more for a Brozz and swap in knobbies or buy a Recon. These are all ZS167FMM scaled engine (14-15hp). If you want the bigger engine, but want to drive on the road 60-70% of the time, get a TempX and swap out for dual sport tires. Better yet, get the Temp M, saving a few hundred, and customize to your delight. Both of these are enduros, so they are a few inches taller. But you can modify to lower them and couple of inches. And finally, if you want off road performance, get the Temp X, or save a few hundred in case you have aftermarket changes, and go with the M. Unfortunately, we can't help you with financing. But my advice is make a decision based on what you want, how you will ride. If that means EFI, then save a bit more for the HAWK DLX. You are 100% in touch with your needs, and 100% in control of this choice. If that means saving a little more cash, then set your sights and go for it. Each of these categories has alternatives that forum members might help you find. These are not the only choices. I am not selling any of these. What I want is irrelevent to your decision. If you are advised to buy what someone else bought, ignore them unless you want the same kind of performance and riding characteristics (it is hard to understand why someone would want you to buy what they did without reason). ALL of these bikes are flawed, imperfect, require your time and hands on adjustment and fixing. Sometimes as soon as you get it! Regarding the Russian joke, Zuumav does sell bikes to Eastern European countries. Russians buy lots of Chinese motorcycles. I wonder why??!!! Yes, there are other options out there. But as I say, it is what you want, how you will ride that you need to consider. Last edited by Thumper; 11-23-2022 at 07:51 AM. |

that 2 year Lifan warranty is really in my mind but so is the fact that I could probably do most of the work myself on it and is a smaller bike and I am a rather large individual (i still have the baby-weight from when my wife had kids 30 years ago). Templar X would be best for my fat butt but that Lifan warranty and the huge amount of info available on the Hawks have me in a real dilemma. I just sold my gaming PC to get money for this transaction and now I don't know what to do. I guess watch more videos on youtube and ruminate further on it. I want fuel injection but I also wonder about long term issues and cost of replacement for the EFI unit. This sucks. I am sooooo freakin indecisive...thanks for the help though. I know ultimately I have to make the choice myself and go with my guts but dang man...wow..this aint easy.
