Rear shock recommendations for Hawk.

I would like to stiffen my rear suspension up on my 2016 Hawk . It doesn't have an adjustment ring like my TBR7 does. I weigh 250 in street clothes, but do something carry a little extra cargo. I would like to know what you recommend. Thanks

I was searching Amazon and came across this one pretty cheap, and figured I would order it before they are gone at the price. Other shocks like it on Amazon are selling for a good bit more. This was about $39.50 with the 5% coupon. I think it may be a hair longer than stock, but I will probably have at least a day to cancel the order if I find out that it's a bad choice.

There are quite anfew options out there, depends on your budget. 1000lb/in is a happy rate for me and I weigh close to what you do. 1200 is a bit too stiff imho.

The ER6N rear shock works and is a good option for lowering the bike a couple inches. A 2014-2019 zx10r rear shock is almost the same length and the rate is also just about right. Also needs no spacers.

I think I will cancel the one I ordered. There is one very much like it but is a 295mm, and from what I gather that would be too short. I also was a liy worried that raising the rear some with a 330mm may put more weight on the front forks. Would slightly lowering the rear take any stress off the front forks ? I realize that the shocks you suggest are Ninja shocks. I had post on the Facebook sight asking for shock recommendations and they said Ninja 650, but the guy was only 160 lbs, and not real tall if I remember right. I don't want my bike to be much lower, but a little lower would be ok.

The ER6N shock, from what I know, will lower the back end a tiny bit, about a bit over an inch. As to the spring rates, I cannot say.

Thanks Dan, I looked all over https://www.amazon.com?&linkCode=ll2...f_=as_li_ss_tl , and didn't see the particular shocks, but saw a lot of the zx10r used on eBay, but mostly for older models than what you said I need. How much improvement would the XPro adjustable shock be ? It looks like it's about the same as on my TBR7, and what was on my Brozz that I had. I don't have to get real serious about the rear with the front being what it is. I will be installing preload spacers in the front, and eventually plan on a fork brace. I think you recommend about 2" in a different thread if I remember right.

The Xpro may be just fine. That's entirely up to you.

Thanks Dan, I was wanting to ask two more questions. Does the Hawk have a 50mm wide eye on one end and a 40mm on the other, and take a 10 mm bolt?,. And can any shock that I decide on be used upsidedown? It seems like the Hawk shock mounts upsidedown .

I don't remember off hand. I just remember the upper mount needs 2 5mm spacers and the lower 2 10mm spacers when using most of the aftermarket shocks

I have one on my Bashon Storm 200 and it fit good with no spacers needed. The resivor is on the bottom of the shock and it has a theaded spring adjuster
I had saw that shock on Amazon, but don't really understand how spring rates work, I thought it may have been to light, but it does look a lot like the stock adjustable shocks like some of the Chinese bikes come with. I am posting a link to it in case someone wants to order one, and I will likely order one as well. I think it's what I was thinking of when I asked Dan about the eye width, and bolt size of the Hawk shock. And I think I would have to mount it upside down on the Hawk. I assume, but don't know for sure if it alright to do, but the Hawk's stock shock looks like an unadjustable version of the one on my TBR7,mounted upside down. May you or someone on here know for sure it it can be mounted upside down. Thanks for the advice.
