2007 Roketa DB-05 Sprocket suggestions - Page 2

I have two DB-05's and both came stock with 520 chains. I run a stock front and 38 rear.

There is the answer. You may already have a 520 chain and that is why the sprockets don't fit.

The 14/35 in a 520 setup will work good too. The 14T 520 sprocket is about the same diameter as a 17T 428 sprocket.

So I sent an email to bruce, his website looks great - looks like theyve got a huge selection. So hopefully I'll be getting a reply saying "yes we have that"...

The 200 roketa I have has a 428 chain, I was surprised that so many others had 520.

I am gonna make a small vid and put it on youtube once I get it to show that and a few other mods Ive made (including a batery "box" )

Hey so you went with the 46. That is the size I was wanting to go with as well. You ordered from bruce right ?
Right now if I am doing anything over 45 mph and let off the throttle the bike immediately slows to about thirty mph in 5th. I was hoping to be able to coast a bit better down hills in 5th.
Do you find it possible to coast downhill at 40 or above with your set up ?
Also do you do any off road riding now ? How is acceleration ?

If you want to offroad I would not go smaller than a 45T rear.

I went with the 14/35 using a 520 chain but was missing some torque. I went back to the 13 for the front sprocket and now the ride is perfect on both the street and the dirt.

My Speedometer broke after the first week so I am not %100 sure but I would say ~63. I weigh a hefty 210 as well :0

So ok, I did talk to bruce yesterday. He seems really knowledgeable about china bikes in general, he was able to part my new sprocket for my roketa rsx200, even tho he doesn't sell this brand.
So I can vouch for ppl saying call him dont email him. He even told me on the phone that he doesn't check his email very often and for specifics to call.
For what I was looking for he recommended a 45 t sprk down from the stock 56 teeth. I was basically looking to increase the top end to cruise comfortabley at 50-55 mph, while still keeping enough torque for light trails.
So yeah I am EXCITED, i cant wait to put this thing on and get to riding.
I do have a QUESTION . Anyone who has done this a. did you use thread locker ? and b. is there some sort of torque requirement when tightening these things up ?

I'll keep you all posted on the final outcome.

Ok so the sprocket is on, and I took two complete links out of the chain.... Geez why didn't anyone tell me about the learning curve for breaking and re-joining a chain ???? LOL JK.
So after a LONG night of screwing with the chain breaker and getting the links back together just right so they move freely, I am about to slide-adjust the back wheel and get this beeotch on the road and see how my top speed in 5th suits me.

I normally just take out the master link, count how many links to take out and break out the grinder.

Well I'll start by saying I am glad I swapped out the 56t rear for a 45t (from bruce) I took the bike out last night and was very happy with the top end. The bike easily goes over 50, and I mean with only maybe half throttle. I'll be honest, I only took it to 60mph but I know I could have gone faster. The great thing for me is that it will now coast in fifth at about 40, rather than winding out at that speed and the engine would slow me down if I let off.
Have to say the bike is a little less torque-ee (is that a word?) but after I got used to the gears it still moves pretty quick. Also first gear is much more usefull now, meaning I can stay in first for more than half a second.....
So I may have given up some low end and may not be able to climb on dirt as well as before, but I feel like I can still hit a light trail w/o an issue.
I'll have to UPDATE once I take the bike off road.
