South Florida routes?

Looks like I'm going to find myself in southern Florida in a few weeks, and there's about a 20% chance I may end up with 4-6hrs of me-time. For anyone that may know, would it even be worth it to rent a scooter from Fort Lauderdale in that amount of time?

I found some leisurely routes that go straight up the coast, and didn't realize the entire everglades only has a few main highways that go through it. The place I was looking at also has a Ducati Panigale V4... which after 2hrs/10k miles experience, I feel like I could handle in a comfortable environment (and giving it the same respect I gave my first/only bike when I got it), but might yeet myself into the Atlantic if I'm in a hurry to get out and get back.

Just curious of a quick opinion, if someone has one. It's a super congested area so I don't know if it'd be worth it, or if I should just rent a jet ski for the first time.

I think you can find the related information at speedwaygp; they have all sorts of informative and interesting articles about everything bike-related

Florida down there is not much of a joy to ride. It’s either packed with traffic or those roads into the Everglades that you were talking about. And you would probably want to Ducati for that because they are straight and flat and boring. also, the traffic does 80 on those roads so you’ll need a Ducati.

I truly hate to break it to you, but South Florida is not a fun place to ride.

getting the scooter, you could just kind of use it to go to the beach.

Now, a Ducati Panigale V4 is a whole different story—awesome bike, but South Florida’s roads might not be the best for really enjoying it. The coast can be scenic, but congestion and stop-and-go traffic might take the fun out of it. If you’re confident and just want the experience, go for it, but maybe pick a quieter time of day to ride.

If you’re thinking about something different, a jet ski could be a blast! The waterways around Fort Lauderdale are beautiful and less stressful than navigating busy streets.

Another option could be renting a car to explore the area or head into the Everglades for a quick adventure. I rented from https://realcar.miami/ during a trip there and found it super convenient for a short time frame.

Well, it's gonna be in the 50s at night, and down to the 40s next week.

That being said, the best time to ride is still between midnight and 6am.

My favorite routes:
Old Cutler road in Miami,
A1A South beach Miami to West Palm
Around lake Okeechobee (East side is nice, West side is kind of boring).
Everglades Tamiami trail in, i75 back out.

Other roads (mostly highway): tri-county to keys, long and beautiful
Tri-county to Naples, up north to Tampa, and on (long but a bit boring)
A1A past West Palm Beach to Georgia.

ProDigit already covered the good ones. I do like to go down the beeline from where it starts over to the top of Lake Okeechobee down to Belle Glade and then back east. But alot of that is built up now.

Going down Alligator Alley can be a trip too but long parts of it are very samey.

If you ride at night past 9ish there is very little traffic outside of Miami/Ft.Laud, tho you are going to see less.
