Apparently, I bought this thing 8 years ago today.

Best $6200.00 I ever spent.

It looks like March now before I see that new hub. That will be 18 months. To celebrate that good news, the .010" brass shims in the current hub packed it in. That showed up after a 65 mph run on I 55 last Sunday on the way to Chicago. So I upgraded to .012" steel shims today. That extra .002" seems to have made a big difference. I couldn't press the bearings in by hand, so I used a bearing driver to get things back together. No wailing, just a couple of light taps to seat the bearings. Fingers crossed.

The thicker shims seem to have been what the Dr. ordered.

I did a 70 mile Polar Bear Ride to Marengo, Illannoy and back on Wednesday and there were no complaints from the front end.

The cold temps and strong winds out of the west, though. "Whoa! WTF!", as I was buffeted while passing every plowed field. The only place open to grab some caffeine and thaw was McDonald's.

I have a snowmobile safety class to attend tomorrow and I'm riding there. Temps MAY be in the high teens. If someone tells me I'm nuts for riding, I'll have to tell them they are not worthy enough to ride a snowmobile.

The above photo was not taken by me. It was taken outside of last month's ABATE chapter meeting by our chapter publicist. It ended up on the chapters' FB page. Then it ended up in the chapters' monthly newsletter accompanied by an article written by the chapter prez about cold weather riding and that some of us do not put our rides away for the winter. The article also reminded cagers that, yes, some folks ride year round, put the phone down, and pay attention.

Kind of hoping it ends up in the state newsletter.

Hey, I got pulled over in town Thursday night coming home late from a fly tying class. Apparently, the TCLOCKS I did in the morning didn't carry over to the evening. I was stopped for no working taillights. Turned out the fuse blew in the taillight circuit. I cannot find a reason why.
No ticket, just a warning. The cop said he has seen me riding through town and behaving myself so let me off with a warning.

I spent longer looking for my stash of fuses that it took me to fix it.

Still no idea on why the fuse went bye bye. I rode 200 miles yesterday and had no issues. Except for my butt.
