Killed the GY200 this weekend....

Had relatives out for the long weekend and we all went out and rode quite a bit.

The kid did really well on his GY200 - best I've seen him ride - sand dunes, washed out roads, rocky wasted desert - some pretty rough stuff.

I was riding sweep and on the last leg of our loop - the easy, wide, mostly smooth powerline road back to where we parked the truck I passed everyone to make sure they didn't miss the cut-off.

Of course the kid - seeing Dad blast down the road at 65mph desides to crank it up a notch himself - best I can tell he just hit a rock at the wrong angle - freak thing really - it pushed him off his line, he over corrected, skidded a little then lowsided hard at about 40mph.

Bike slid along and the left side engine case hit a big rock pretty hard and cracked - spilled the oil out all over...foward sprocket cover broke off completetely, chain came off and balled up hard too.

Kid's going to be fine - bike maybe not so much. 8O

Anybody weld up a case on these bad boys? Might try a little JB Weld - I have't got a chance to really look it over yet...

Road we were on:

Left a mark on the rock too:

We're still game though:

All I can say is - OUCH!

Glad he's ok and his get-off was before it smashed into the rock... yikes, just thinking of a leg in there gives me the weebie jeebies. I'm surprised the gear shifter is still in good shape.

You can fix it... Parts should not be hard to get I would think.... Glad he didn't get hurt. What's with the ADV salute?

Glad your boys OK man! That's what really counts. As for the bike a $4000 Honda 200 wouldn't have faired any better... you can get a new engine for $400 and a new bike for $1200 you can't replace the boy.

If someone would take some detailed pix of the lower frame rails and front mount areas of the frame [maybe a ruler included for scale], I would check the nice aftermarket skidplate I have on my XR/Lifan 200 and see if it would fit.

Probably will, if you're ready to drill a few holes into aluminum.

It was one of the first things I did after mounting the Lifan motor, since it is a bit wider than the XR motor. Not quite as protected, since it was made for the XR, but a whole lot more protected than stock Lifan!

that doesnt look too awful bad, although it could have tweaked the frame with a solid hit like that. Hope you find a spare motor laying around so you can get that back on the road.

Yeah that's the Kinroad and it has a skidplate - the engine case however sticks out well beyond what the plate covers.

I'm out of town this weekend so I'm not gogin to get a chance to tear into it until next weekend

Thanks for the tips - prolly try cold steel or jb weld first.

Step one: go on ebay.
Step two: buy the brand new OHC motor for 420$
Step three: buy some turnsignals for 30$
Step four: ride the bike and crash it again
Repeat as neccesary
