Greetings with a LB200 from Washington State

Just received a 2008 LB200 as a gift. Excited to get my MCO to put this bike on the road. Never ridden anything before. Today was my first ride around the block and then to the school near my house to practice in the parking lot. Got my motorcycle learners permit and signed up for the class. Looking forward to meeting other China Bike fans in the Puget Sound. Currently living in Marysville but am starting a new church in Skagit Valley next month!

If you don't mind, here is some advice to help get you through that "learning curve":

The majority of your spills will probably be in first gear. When you are at speed, the gyro effect of the drivetrain and wheels will help keep your balance. I would suggest some 1st gear maneuvers untill you get the "feel" of your new bike.

Another thing to practice is, smooth clutch release without stalling. You can combine that drill with the 1st gear maneuvers. Next you could practice pulling out of a blind alley, by starting in neutral, turning the handlebars to full lock, shift to 1st, and smoothly slip the clutch while making the sharpest, slowest turn you can negotiate. It is the slow maneuvers that really puts your balance to the test.

There will be other, high speed skills you must master as well, such as "countersteering", where you push the handlbar to bank the motorcycle. This maneuver is often nessesary to quickly avoid danger at higher speeds. Practice, Practice Practice.

And if you like to ride "two-up" I would recommend an approved motorcycle safety course! :idea:

Hey, at least you have a good reason to get on your bike as often as want.

Tigertamer - Thanks for the advice... I did sign up for a class but around here they are about 2 months out. Starts October 6th.

Partsdude - I actually drive through surrey about once a month as a good friend lives in Burnaby. I am excited to take my bike next time.

Thanks everyone and as soon as my gallery is approved, I will add photos of the 2008 Single Light Longbo LB200. Looks just like a Kawasaki.
