HEY...Have you checked your EXHAUST INLET Lately???
Holy Smokes Batman, they'v been hittin the saki again!!
The exhaust inlet ID should be about 1" but after they got the collar ring welded on, the ID shrunk to nearly 3/4" counting the HUGE blobs of weld sticking out all around the iner lip!!!!!!! I just can't help my self, I gotta say it again.....Buyin a China bike, is like a box of chocolates..................................... And yes, there was a noticable improvement in performance once I ground out all that exrta weld. I keep tellin my self, but I only paid $1339.00 delivered and "soon" the little things will be all squared away. 38 hours shop time latter, but who's counting!!! |

I have wondered, if all the time spent with the tools were office work, would I have enough money to buy a real enduro?

I'm trying to figure out what you mean. Can you post a pic of the "inlet" that you are talking about? How did you grind the weld down? With a file or with a grinder or what?

The crappy welding is quite common, some are worse than others. There's a picture of mine after I ground the lumps off in my gallery (page 4).

Mine's running as fine as you can expect for a 200, so I have no reason to remove the header.
I'll be sure to check it out wen it has to come off 8O Thanks, Tigertamer

Fun Pipe
Makes no difference if you keep the tiny 1/2 ID "silencer". Replaced mine with a 1" ID aluminum pipe with lots of holes drilled in it.
Gives me enough power to put a smile on my face. ![]() Thumps pretty good, too! ![]()

To grind the weld smooth I used a "de-burring" cutter in an electric drill. It makes a difference when the weld is cleaned up.

THANKS CZ!
Of course, it would be just that simple to get to your photos!! You did a great job getting the ID right in the header mouth. I started out with a 15/16ths drill in a drill press steped up to a 1" then stone grind what little was left smooth. Unfortunately, I didnt do the before and after shots :( |
