Thanks for your advice Knothead, certainly appreciate it.

Will explore all options, even balking on this one and getting another Zong, but I really like the KLR, its history and huge tank! Will keep you guys advised!

Yep, they do. Everyone on the KLR forums have been fussing about it. Kawasaki upgraded the spring, but is still using the welded two piece weight. It's not too big of a deal to fix, it's just that tearing into a brand new bike to fix something that has been known for the last 15 years is kind of crazy. They're good bikes though.

Well that is interesting. I was under the impression that it was a whole new engine design.

I will inform my co-worker who has an 08 model.
