Intermittent Shifting problems

I have a Hi-Bird 200gy 07 with 7001 miles on it every once and a while when im shifting from 1st to second the shifter will lock up and wont go into 2nd unless I down shift back to 1st and let the clutch out then it will go into second. It seem to get stuck in Neutral this is intermittent and not all the time. I took the clutch cover off and every thing looked ok from what i could tell. any ideas?

Thanks for your help

Dugan

When I had it apart I checked to see if anything was loose or out of place but every thing was tight. Is there suppose to be a little play in the shift lever shaft ?it moves a little in and out.

Yes a little play there is fine. If the oil is clean, and the clutch is adjusted, you may have to live with it. My Roketa does the same tihng if I don't pull up ALL THE WAY into second. It'll hang in neutral and you HAVE to drop back down into 1st, then it'll shift to 2nd. Happens probably 2% of the time, and it's always because I get a lazy left foot and don't shift it right. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Red pointed to the clean oil. Some people have reported eratic shifting problems as the oil gets to the end of it's life.
