Skyteam/United Motors Fork Oil Seals
Yesterday I tore apart my front forks to change seals and straighten the stanchions and just wanted to let other Skyteam/United Motors users of the 200 dual purpose model that the size of those fork seals is:
41-53-10.5 All measurementes are on millimeters of course. 41 stands for the inner diameter, 53 outer diameter, 10.5 width. You can also use 41-53-10 or 41-53-11 (the later can be used because there's some cleareance between the seal and the circlip). Hope these helps someone. |

Is this for the standard forks or upside down models?
Also do you a part number and where you purchased them from? Allen

I forgot that. This oil seals are for the traditional (non upside down) forks. I don't have a part number because what I did was go ahead and buy generic japanese made oil seals based on measurements, because when I asked my local Honda dealer he answered that he "doesn't know" their seals measurements because "they only work with part numbers" (what an excuse...). I can't provide a dealer either because currently I'm living at my foster hometown Mexico City so any info would be of no use to you guys.

Can I ask why you needed to change the fork seals? My forks are sluggish, and I would like to find out if it is because of inferior seals. Also, it would be pretty cool to see a pic of your bike in Mexico City :wink: Take care, Tigertamer

Hello there TigerT. Well, I was jumping on September 28 and I squeezed the throttle a little more than I should have... I got more air than the bike could handle and the stanchions were damaged upon landing... they were bent forward (go figure), and the left one started to pour out susp oil, so I had to tear everything apart, straighten those bars and put new seals in there. I will post some cool pics of the bike at the pyramids and the Independence Angel sometime soon.
About your sluggish susp I think that one should look for axle binding first, weight of oil, integrity of the stanchions and just as a last resort oil seal change. |
