LF200 Problems
Well, I saved a LF200 from going to crap. The bike was mistreated and left outside for months. Since I got it I have put a lot of work into it and it runs fairly well. Understandibly however, there are still problems.
First off, the wiring on the thing was all screwed up by the previous owner. The flasher bulbs were blown out and missing and the headlights won't come on like they are supposed to. They DO work though because if I hold down the button for the brights they illuminate fine. They just don't come on as running lights. Also, when I press on either brake -- front or back -- the flashers, on the front and back, will randomly start flashing (sort of like emergency lights on a car). However, the turn indicators work perfectly (With the annoying beeping noise and all). OH and I think I might add that the RPM meter doesn't work either but the speedo and odo work fine along with fuel. So yeah if anyone can help me out with these problems I would greatly appreciate it. I'm a college kid and I got the bike to help cope with fuel costs. |

Oh yeah, I also forgot to say that there is an annoying rattle coming from the muffler as well. It sounds sort of like a bicycle chain when it is grinding against something.
Let me know if you guys can help with any of this. |

The wiring/lighting issue mist be traced using a diagram or pulling and following. I suspect your flasher/braking circuits are shorted or crossed or grounded through the flasher. As for the rattle fron the exhaust, if the heat shield screws are tight, I suspect the tack-welded screen in the muffler is loose.

You in Canada? I think the Canadian models had some different features. Like flashing the lights when the brakes are applied.
Also the muffler rattle is common. The baffles fall apart. Easily solution is a different exhaust. Allen

No I'm not in Canada but I can't pinpoint the reason braking makes the turn indicators flash...

I can tell you this, when I recieved my gy the blinkers were wired up backwards, when you turned on the left the right started blinking. I had to switch around under the headlight and the seat.

Yeah mine didn't come with blinkers. Like I said, the guy who had it before me really abused the bike.

Hi,
A lot of Chinese bikes are manufactured with the brake and flash feature. It's pretty annoying but quite simple to disable on most models. It's just one wire that needs to be cut or disconnected. However, I don't know which one for the LF200. But try to track the wiring from the brake switch to the flasher relay. Hope it helps. BTW, the RPM clock: The electronic inside it does'nt like vibrations. I bet if you disassemble it you find a bad soldering somewhere. |

Well, I have run into yet ANOTHER problem. The clutch seems to have gone bad. I have taken the magneto housing apart and the gear behind the magneto assembly doesn't pull the whole magneto assembly around for the starter to work. Well, I am trying to get the thing off but if I try to unscrew the center bolt on the magneto assembly, the assembly turns with the bolt. So my question is; how do I unscrew the magneto assembly without the whole thing rotating?
Thanks for the tip on the flashing issue. I thought it was a short or something. It makes me feel better. I'll check out the RPM thing too. |

Usually with impacts you can hold the part in one hand and zap it off with the other...The impact wrench does not use leverage like a traditional wrench so a guy can control the spinning issue without jamming the assembly with a big stick... :P Also locktight has little effect to an impact whereas hand tools and locktight are sticky...situations

I've never used electric tools lol. So if I do find one of these "impact" wrenches, it won't rip my hand off if I try to hold the assembly while unscrewing, right?
