102 to 115 is an awfully big jump in jet sizes. What modifications did do to it?

The plug looks lean. With your gutted muffler I think at WOT you are leaning out. You may want to try one more size larger main jet.

I'm going to step up to a 118 jet and see what happens. I'm going to take a video of the exhaust. You guys need to hear this thing if you haven't already heard a modified stock muffler. I have to say...its great for what it is. |

I think the 118 will fix it.
Looking forward to the video. Allen

Yeah I'm really thinking this bike may need even bigger than the 118 jet I've been recommended....the 115 sputters like crazy up top in the revs....makes me think its really thirsty.

Unlike your bike, my Zongshen 200GY-2 employs a much smaller, 15-inch rear tire. I think the 15-tooth sprocket, along with your larger Cheng Shin Barracuda tire and 18-inch rear wheel, will get you close to your desired results. ![]() Spud ![]()

![]() Of course, I have a different carburetor and engine in my Zongshen; however, my bike came with a 132 size main jet. Start working your way up the larger size jets, note the results, and check your spark plug. ![]() P.S. This is a very interesting, informative thread. Thank you for posting all of your results as your experiment. ![]() Spud ![]()

Ok well tonight I came home and opened the box of assorted jets that came from Taiwan. I installed a 120 in place of the 115. The bike seemed to have more power, but does sputter at very high revs....I'm seriously starting to think its not so much a fuel issue, but rev limiter. This could be due to my 3.29 ratio I get from my 14/46 tooth combo. I do have the throttle at about 90% when it stumbles and it really is starting to feel like rev limitation.
I have a new chain en-route @ 130 links, and it will be installed with a 17 tooth front sprocket. The jump from 14 to 17 should act as if I dropped 9 teeth in the rear, which may be what I need. The highest speed I can achieve per my stock speedo is 100km/h consistently. This equates to 62mph. Thats with the throttle as high as I can take it before it sputters. So it seems like I'm really really high in the revs to make 100km/h happen. The 9 tooth drop just might put me where I need to be for true cruising at 65mph. I'll keep everyone posted. |

Ok....I installed my 17/46 combo, took the bike for a ride, and can attain 110km/hr, but thats max....really not a true cruising speed/rev match. I still have the extreme stuttering problem at high revs in 5th. The bike jerks and slows down. I twisted the throttle enough to induce the stutter and found its not near rev limit as there is throttle still to be added.
ANYONE have any ideas? I'm going fruit! I'm wondering now if its a spark issue. Maybe the stock coil is weak or something? The plug is a NGK D7EA gapped at .025-.027 My next course of action is to remove my small inline fuel filter to see if there is restriction in fuel flow causing the issue. In the meantime, please brainstorm. UPDATE: swapped on a brand new PZ30 carb jetted @ 132 main. The bike has more power than with the 120 main, but still sputters at high revs. Ideas??? Maybe a slipping clutch at high RPM is allowing it to bounce of the rev limiter? The clutch does slip, and the exhaust is rather loud, so maybe its a possibility. |

So it happens at the same high rpm in every gear? or only 5th :? ..You checked everything I would check, Except the petock to see if it might be slightly restricted or maybe an even better flowing air filter. Not sure what You have now. But if it only happens in fifth I have no clue why. A restriction should occur in all gears at the same rpm range :?

I think you have an ignition issue. It may be that you have a rev limiter. I know my lifan does not  .
Check to make sure the plug wire it not shorting out someplace and that the wiring connections for the CDI and Coil are are clean and good. Mine was laying on the exhaust. Also the plug gap doesn't sound right, but I may be wrong on that. If you have another plug try it too. Plugs can short out.
