Listen to this
It was a nice day out today so i rode my 2 week old Roketa to work today. About 5hrs into the day my boss comes up to me and asks me he needs to talk to me. I think "am i in trouble"? I wish. So turns out a stupid semi driver backed up and over my bike! How the hell do you even do that? Well turns out my work is paying me for the bike. I just need to show them what i paid for it. Now that i will have a little cash in hand and in the market for a new bike i dont know what to get. I liked my Roketa but i love the look of the Lifans. Roketa isnt as much as the Lifan but not as good looking. Any ideas on what i should get?

Damn that sucks... Hope you got a ride home at least.
If you get another Roketa at least you have spare parts lol.. It would be interesting if you could post a pic or two of what the semi did to your bike if you are willing to share your sorrow. Sorry to hear bout your plight.. I hope they make it good for you.. NET |

The Lifan GY20-5 is a solid bike... IMHO that is... 8)

I didnt take a pic of it but i should. Its still there. It just crushed the wheel and forks. I did get a ride home and maybe now the semi drivers will look when backing up to unload. I wonder if the bike would start? Probably not a good idea to try.

If there's no damage to the motor then just right it and let it sit for a bit to let the oil drain back to the crankcase. You might need to pull the plug and dry/clean it, but it should be ok to start after that. (check the oil level)

People drop/lay bikes down all the time and start them right back up.

Give them the bill of sale for your bike, get the cash and buy a new one, keep the flat one for parts...

If you do buy a GY-5, I'm not sure how interchangable the parts may be??? Tell your work it was a KTM....J/K...

If i get a Gy-5 then i might use this one as a project bike or something. Maybe ill pull the motor apart and see if there are any ways to pull more hp out of it then tell everyone or something. Well i will have a check in hand when i get off work thursday.

most of the parts are interchangeable with the lifan. if i had a chance to do it all over again i'd go with the lifan. actually i had a guy at work offer me $800 for my roketa so might go buy a new lifan anyways. Bruce is great to deal with in getting parts. good luck getting any thing right from Roketa.
btw please post pics!!!!!!!!

Dude,
I had an old Honda cx500 get back into and tipped over at the gym back in college, The owner came and found me and was really worried about what I would say. I went out and picked it up and noticed all the necessary stuff still functioning. Noticing it had a few more dings in it, I said "Well it always kinda looked like that" We both had a good laugh and I went back to working out. Save it for parts even if you get the Lifan. Both are similar in many of the important areas. Otherwise get another Roketa or part it out here on the forum. I'm sure there are a few guys here that wouldn't mind having a couple of the things that are still good on yours. (Like some of the plastics that made it) Jason

The guy was half way out in the street and I was just coasting up to the sidewalk when he stops. At this point I guess he can't see me and all of a sudden he is backing right into me. Before I could get it in reverse he has crunched the front of my Bronco and is pushing me back into the lot. I was all over the horn but it took him 20 feet to figure it out. Unreal, and the cop wouldn't give him a ticket because it was on private property. Glad I wasn't on my bike then! |

It sounds like your bike might be somewhat salvageable... but I agree to just keep it for parts and don't mess with fixing it since they already offered up the cash.
