W 8O W That engine had some stress applied to it but then you did say you were going up around sixty at the time.
It does look bent.

Price it out both ways and I'd bet the difference between repairing and replacing the engine isnt a whole lot.

Of course getting an exact replacement engine might be harder than just adapting a readily available engine.

thanks for the pics.

That rod is likely to have damage you don't see also. I would consider the whole engine toast and just get a replacement.

You can recover some cost be selling off the good parts still on the engine though.

Ditto what Allen said. The crank likely saw som abuse as well. And lots of little mettle parts to crunch around in the botoom of the motor.
Bummer.

3 days, 4 hours left on the 200cc complete engine for $349-shipped.(if no one else jumps on it)
Its the pushrod, NON-counterbalanced version but they run just fine.
(no bidders yet but then I might just buy it)

Bummer, PR. :(

Looks like a significant unplanned expense. I hope you have access to another form of transportation while your bike is down. Up until I saw those pics I thought you's be able to fix that motor, but now I would say don't bother.

TRY to call the warantee in. MAYBE you'll get lucky and surprise us all.

I'm also bummed. For all the little problems our CB's give us at least we (had) been able to say that the engines/trannies were good. :(

What is the normal RPM your motor turned when doing 60MPH. Perhaps a valve floated? What did the valves look like? What there any sign of detonation before it went?(ie pinging?)

I was at 7500 RPM. It did start pinging before it just cut off.

Sounds like it detonated.....I had an old VW that did the same thing. Too hot/lean and the piston melted.

Good point. That is exactly what it looks like.

PizzaRider:

Any mods to your exhaust, intake, or carb? What octane fuel were you running?

No mods what-so-ever. Completely stock. Ran 87 Octane. In fact I also ran that Rotella T full synthetic oil that everyone was using. Thanks everyone for the help. I guess I am going to buy another engine when I can get up enough money. I would really like to get a new one at the lowest price possible. -like to break them in myself. I will be parting out my engine/starter etc. Everything not effected by this mishap is in great condition. Thanks again! -Cory

Bummer about your engine, but I like the idea of upgrading to a 250!

Ditto on the high octane fuel. Higher octane fuel has a slower flame front that will thwart detonation and run a bit cooler. It might be a little harder to start, but not much.

Which plug are you using? If you intend to wring out the new engine, you might want to move one heat range cooler.

What did the plug look like after the carnage? Do you have a photo?

This brings up some relevent issues for all of us. Are our bikes timed correctly from the factory? Are they jetted too lean? Excessive advance would have done that. What is our true compression ratio? Has anyone else had or heard of similar catastrophic failures? Is 7,500 RPM too fast for these bikes? Was this a material failure? (That's the conclusion I am leaning towards).
